The Picnic at Mrs. V*ss’s Mill.
We are now in the midst of the
pic,vo season and thee are not many
things mo e pleasant than for a crowd
to gather at some cool romantic
place— W'ih well filled baskets, bright
faces and happy hearts—there !o
eat. d> Ink (water of course) and he
nieriy. They seem to forget every
disappointment of the pat, to lay
aside every dread of the future and
thftik only cf the happy present.
The fara-er even forget* to talk, of
sct. cotton; Such was the case at
Mrs. Moss’s MOI Satvdav.
The people of that community
were wise to select that place for
their picivc. There is the old mill
W'lh its huge water wheel which the
c' ,: ’d c i enjoy looking at so much—
and some of the older people too, for
it always suggests ‘Fatty bread” to
them because,
‘ft lie ir'l'c h the man who wca.rs

The lege lock near the mill over
wT'ch the wrier keeps up a constant
ripple : s vcy picturesque and beau
tifi'’. Ti en the* e is a sp-ag near

We w’Uto. attempt a description of

and what a hearty welcome they give

The dinner was a" that a picnic

M's. e.< Geo^'-i Duckett, Lor-nn

made a race of which they should
feel proud, Mi*s Duckett was e’ected
however.
Col. F. C. Tate was the one appoin

whenlh.it was t now u there was a
bright smile ou many frees *nd all
seemed anxious to hear what Col.
Tate would sav, well m’ght they feel
to too for h s speech to the Queen
and her ‘Ma : ■’ of honor was quite
witLy aud inlee i*.ig. He placed
ifte c r own on her head in a very
g, aeeful manner a ter which she re
cited a beaut ul poem. Tn ; s ended
the programme of the day and the
crowd “dispersed and wandered”

HOMER, BANKS COUNTY, GEORGIA: MAY 9, 1895.
In Wedded Bliss.
Quite a surprising and pleasant
event, that was not on the pre arrang
ed program, closed the exercises at
the Grove picnic Saturday,
It was the marriage of Mr. B. M.
Watkins to Miss Lucy Venable,
both of whom lived in the immediate
vicinity. Rev. i). H. Crymes uttered
the solemn words that made the
twain one. Mr. Watkins is a prom
inent farmer and land-holder, while
his bride is a charming young lady.
The Ga-.ette wishes them an unlimit
ed amount of happiness.
A Youthful Couple.
Married, on the ‘2oth of April
at the residence of Rev. A.N. Dowdy
Mr. Jacob White and Miss Mary
Askew, Rev. A. N. Dowdy, efticiat
ingall’o’ Anderson’s district, Banks
county.
This is quite a youthful couple,
the gro. ns being only 15 years old,
and the bride 14.
There is more Catarrh in this
section of the country than all other
diseases put together, and until the
last few years was supposed to be in
curable. For a groat many years
doctors pronounoed it a locbl disease,
and prescribed local remedies, and by
constantly failing to cure with local
treatment, pronounced it incurable.
Soience has proven catarrh to be a
constitutional sense and requires
codstitntional treatment. Hall’s Ca
tarrh Cure manufactured by F. J.
Cheney & Cos:, Toledo, Ohio is the
only constitutional cure on the mar
ket. It is taken internally in doses
from 10 drops to a teaspoonful. It
acts directly on the blood and mucous
surfaces of the system. They offer
one hundred dollar for any case it
faih to cure. Send for circulars and
testimonials. Address,
