The Savannah News of Tuesday
says; We are called upon to make the
painfyil highly announcement esteemed and of the well-known death of
our
merchant, occurred John L. Villalohga, Esq.,
which last evening at his res
idence on Taylor street, corner days. Bull,
after an illness of a few Mr.
Villalongh was born at jit. Augustine,
Fla., on the 27 th of June, 1817, aud was

soon became very popular, and

to represent the county in the Georgia
Legislature. He moved to resident this city m

ga, and continued the same for eleven
vears. He was chief commissary of
the State of Georgia during the time

during several administration, served

the high position oi Chairman of the
Finance. Committee. At tlie time of
his death lie was Vice-President and

Bank of this city;, and bis counsels had
great influence in the management of

The deceased was regarded as among
our most valued business men, and his
