If there is one thing which we re
gret to do more than any other it is to
ask people for money, but we are seri
ously in need of all that is due us, and
hope that all who owe us either for ad
vertising, job work or subscriptions
will come forward and make a settle*
ment for same. The amounts, friends,
taken separately seem small, but.in
aggregate they make quite a sum.
Our gonial and clever friend, Mr. J. i
C. Overstreet, will please accept our

ton, than which we have seen none
better in the county.
The rainy season secins to have ful
ly set iu. The wet weather which we
have been having for the past few days
will injure cotton somewhat, but be
of material benefit to the oat crop,
which is now being planted.
The. boom of the shot-gun mingled
with the musical whiz of arrows and
hum id brick-bats sent after flying
birds, was to he heard in this place a
few days since. That new -bot-g”n
will plug a spot, every time.

article from him. He is receiving al

his line, which be proposes to sell at
