B VLDVVIWTLLK ITEMS. Our farming friends are busily engaged sowing wheat and oats. As far as bur ob servation lias extended, one of the largest crops since the war will be r<>\Vu this season. We do not remember to have ever s-.'en the people more determined to try and pay their debts mid raise their supplies at home. Never can our coun try be prosperous and do otherwise. Good Living — Since the cold snap our folks have been regaling upon “spnvi*.- ribs and sausages, ' of Georgia raised hogs. We have recently been shown in this immediate vicinity, some of as line pork hogs as have, ever been brought from East Tennessee. The idea that we eannot raise our own “hog and hominy” should never be entertained by us, since we are surrounded by such favorable ad vantages. Our Wants. Last week we spoke of the want of a shoemaker and wood work man to locate in our village. No sooner than the issue of the Register, parties were negotiating to carry on the above business in our midst. We hope that i they may succeed and will not be afraid 1 of a judicious use of printer's ink. Ad- 1 vertise in the Register. Look. —As we may have an occasion next week of making a trip to Taylor county, we hope our friends will avail themselves of the opportunity to subscribe, for the Register. Let everybody anticipate oitr coming and have tlie greenbacks ready. < Transfer of Real Estate.— Mr. Jack son, of Alabama, lias bought out Mr. John*Fox. McCormic Neal has purchased a part of Mr. L. D. Lockhart's place. No sooner than land is ottered for sale is this vicinity a purchaser is on hand. We know of one or two parties now that desire to locate here permanently. To one and all we say come and locate in our midst. We extend a hearty welcome. Our village was honored by a traveling “slight of hand” show the past week, but with what success it met with, this depo nent knoweth not. However, we guess somebody was gulled by the light handed gentry. Mr. D. N. Baldwin. From the crowd that we set; visiting this gentleman's store, we arc led to believe that he is ! doing !i large business. We can account for it. however, from the fact that he ; known how to apply printer’s ink. Suc ' cess to him. Mr. !.. advertises in the Register. Send your cotton to G.o. I*.
