The Festival.
| On Tuesday night last at the residence
Jof Mrs. E J Downs, was well attended
i and highly enjoyable. The dining hall
| was well filled with tables of delicacies
lin great variety, which were presided
■ over by the yiung ladies with becoming
i grace and signal success. The proceeds
of the occasion looted up $33 00, which
! will be deveitod to improving the inte
rior ot the parsonage.
The ladies. to whom is due the credit
of this enterprise, deserve the thanks of
the community. By’ similar means the
past winter they have raised considers
oly over one hundred dollars, which has
all been properly expended.
Ten Pin Alley.
Mr F F Jacobs is fitting up in band
some style a ten-pm alley in basement
of the Thornton House,for the recreation
•of young ladies and gentleman, and the
[ people generally. It is in no way con
nected with the bar. It is a healthful
and invigorating exercise, and will be
specially patronized by the summer visi
tors at the Thornton House. No minors
will oa permitted to play, without the
written consent of their parents. The
appointments a>.e all first class, uiid Us

The bridge over North Lazar creok,

much elated over its completion.
