The lot you shipped me some time Ago has bien on my shelf j-inoe tlieir arrival, until a few days ago, when the following circumstances occur red. Mrs James Coleman, while on a visit to her mother, Mrs Conner, was taken very ill and thought she would die with a case of bronchitis and consumption of long standing. There was no physician to be had, the nearest points being Dublin and Mt Vernon, both about twenty miles dis tant. They sent over to the store for something that would give relief. I gave them a bottle ol Brower's Lung Restorer and t'kl them that it it did no good they need not pay for it. The result was that in fifty six hours she was able to go home, about twenty-one miles—and I have sold several bottles to- day to parties who ki.ow of this circumstance. Mr AII McCrem mon bought a bottle and found almost in stant relief. Th© sale of your medicine is assured in this section ms 1 shall here after warrant it to cure. Yours truly. Rev G K Hatch ford, Lotlinir, Ga. BRONCHITIS CURED Messrs Lamar, Rankin cl Lamar—Gen tlemen; My little girl, 8 years old, has been ior some time troubled with a severe cough which physicians pronounced bronchitis. She slept but little, cough ing the entire night, and we had to get up very often to help her out* the cough was so severe. At vour solicitation I bought a bottle of Brewer’s Lung lie. stover, and she began to improve atouce and has been sleeping nicely ever since, and I firmly believe she will ft** perman ently cured. I was veay much frighten ed at her condition not long since.but am now rejoicing at her recovery. Yours truly, Geo F. Wino. HEMORRH AGES STOPPED. Mr Orange Jail(l discusses the subject, of plowing in the American Agriculturist for April, ami among other things says the following; The sun‘s warmth great ly’ assists the preparation of tho food material collecleit by the leaves, adapting it lor plant nourishment. We speak of warm “growing weather' . But while the hot son rapidly increases the prep ,r ition of plant food, it dries ofl'lhe.sap (aster from the leaves, and also the moietuie from the surface soil, so that tho roots oau not yet a full supply. Iu both these ways the sap—the life blooJ ..f the plant—is diminished, and for want of this the food dishhuiti'ot] or growth is lessened, ami ffcftjuetitly is stopped altogether. Tho leaves curl, ttie plants droop, often dying out after a few hot days. This is especially the case on shallow soils, and on praiiielaud which, by reason of its daik color, absorbs more ol the sun's heat th m those of lighter color. Owing to the loose texture ot such soils they bring up mois ture from below much less rapidly than fine, compact loams and clays. Is it not plain then, that it a soil is pi iwed deep and made fine, so iliat uir will penetrate deepU, and ttie plant roots be thus invited well below the surface, out of tUe sun,s reach even iu a drouth which sel dom dries more ihaii two to four inches deep, the plants having such roots will he always supplied with the needed sap, and the growth wi 1 proceed lapidiy even iu the dryest days. Hence, as a rule, deep plowing and working of the soil are highly advantageous. April Farm Notes- A well started crop is usually profi table, and one put in late or under un favorable conditions is seldom satis factory. Harrowing Winter Grain is a prac tice that is now quite generally adopt ed by the better farmers. This should be done with implements that have the teeth turned backward. Peruvian guano, bone-dus' , wood-ashes, or oth er fertilizer may be applied before, the harrowing. Fodder Crops.—There should be ample provision of food for farm ani- j mals during the summer months, when the pastures are short from drouth. | A leafy sort of oats may be sown with peas and thus obtain a double crop of of green fodder. The value of Hun garian grass as a supply of good green food,,is not easily over-estimated. llcets, including mangels, may be sown the lart of the month. Quick starting of the seeds may be insured by soaking them. They should be sownsosoonas germination begins. After the plants are up they will need weeding and thinning. Grass is a leading farm crop, and is much neglected. Ottr farmers have given every attention to the study of grass and the soils and culture best adapted to the various sorts. A per manent meadow or pasture needs to be kept up by a yearly top-dressing of manure or commercial fertilizer. It is hoped that the American farmer will come to a better understanding of the importance of grass growing, and that our grass land will be treated with due consideration. Sundry Matters. —Put all farm im plements in good order during rainy days. Clear up the rubbish that has accumulated. Look well to fences before cattle are turned out. Sheep.—The care bestowed on sheep by farmers during the winter, invites weakness, and a troublesome irritation of the skin and loss of wool often follow poor treatment. Raising lambs for the spring market is a prof itable business, but great care of both ewes and lambs is necessary, 'fire strength and vitality of the lamb after birth depend largely on the condition of the ewe previous to parturition. Much injury is done to unborn lambs by compelling the ewes to go without water. —American Agriculturist for April. Education a Necessity Without education men are not fit to discharge the duties of citizens, ei ther in private or public station, in peace or war. Because ignorance tends to increase and education to di minish poverty and crime ; because a state needs intelligent officers and peaceful people ; and because it is the duty of s rciety to guard the rights and seek the welfare of i‘s individual members, it is the duty of a communi ty to maintain a system of public in struction adequate to the education of all its youth. It is certainly as lawful to prevent the developement of criminals, as to detect and punish them when grown.
