Atlanta Herald,
If there is one thing more
for then another by the 1
merchants of Atlanta, it la __
shonia have a public market There
has been barrels of ink and tons of
paper consumed in the discussion of
the matter. all agreeing that the needs
and requirements of the city demand
a public market It is now stated
upon authority by those who ought to
know, that CoL Wadley, of the Cen
tral railroad has proposed to the va
rious railroads leading into the city
that they together build a grand un
ion depot in the back of the W. & A.
ft ft shops, and bounded by the At
lanta and West Point road bed and
the Macon and Brunswiok extension.
Under this arrangement, the W. &
A., the Georgia Padflu, the Atlanta
and West Point, the Central, the
Brunswick extension, and CoL Cole’s
new road from Borne could all enter
withont passing through the city.—
The Georgia and the Air Line could
reaoh it by the track next to the Ala
bama street side of the carshed. .1
is understood that CoL. Wadley pro
poses then to sell’ to the city, or i
company, the present depot to be
need as a market It would make a
splendid market is fully large
enough, and we would like to see it
so converted Atlanta needs a market
and in this way she would get one of
the best in the south, cool and of am
ple room.

Since the beginning of the Egyp
tian troubles many writers have been
predicting that should, the war prove
a serious one, it would redound to the
benefit of the United States by in
creasing the demand for our food
stuffs, and that the benefit would be
still greater should the present trou
ble lead to a general European war.
Ignoring the desire to build |up our
trade through the misfortunes of
others; the predictions themselves an
false?* It is true that a-foreign war
might for the time being stimulate
our commerce and burette the price
of our foodstuffs, but there would
surely. oojhS a reaction in the future.

Genu:—Upon the recommenda
tion of a friend I tried Brown's
Ikon Bitters as a tonic and re
storative for my daughter, whom
I was thoroughly convinced was
wasting away with Consumption.
Having lost three daughters by the
terrible disease, under the care of
eminent physicians, I was loth to
believe that anything could arrest
the progrese of the disease, but, to
my great surprise, before my daugh
ter Cad taken one bottle of Brown's
Ikon Brmtxs. she began to mend
show signs of Consumption, and
when the physician was consulted
he quickly said “Tonics were re
quired and when Informed that
die elder sister was talcing Brown's
Ikon Bitters, responded “that Is
a good tonic, take it.”
