He is a merchant and is the proprie
tor of a very good business. The
physicians are investigating the caus
es of Mr. Tappan's insomnia, but can
not ns yet understand its causes. A
mail and express reportsr called upon
Hr. Tappan yesterday and found him
standing behind the counter of bis
store. In the course of conversation
Mr. Tappan said that it bad been
more than six months since he had
bad any sleeft He was apparently in
good health, and does not complain
of his singular disease. He is about
fifty-five years old, weighs one bun
dred and sevebty pounds, and is of
large stature. He has several grown
sons and daughters. He says bis loss
of sleep dates from a severe ‘illness
from which be suffered nearly six
months ago. He passes the hours of
night reading, writing and reposing
in bed awake.

'Although there has been about two
hundred bodies cremated in Italy du-
riug the last fife yes.a, aud about
twenty in the'United States, crema
tion has made slow progress in Eng
land. It has been declared illegal
there by Justice Kay. He- 'held that
no person cau dispose of bis body by
will, but that bis executors are enti

the purpose of properly burying it.—
He assumes tbat they Lave no right
to make other disposition of
it. The question as to the illegality
of cremation is to be contested by the
Cremation Society.

SEEK
fi
health and avoid sickness.
Instead of feeling tired and
worn out, instead of aches
and pains, wouldn’t you
rather feel fresh and strong?
You can continue feeling
miserable and good for no
thing, and no one but your
self can find fault, but if you
are tired of that kind oflife,
you can change it if you
choose.
