O.ttrs are a hospit able people,’ whose hearts and homes are always open to those’ who thus come among us. We make the following extracts from-the notice of the meeting and of Brunswick by the editor of the Index: This will bo a delightful occasion for all Baptists to visit, Brunswick, and’there is ho more delightful place to visit than Brunsffick. It is.fast coining to the front as a pleasure re sort, ! , The Oglethorpe hotel was opened ip January, and its’-fame as a first- -Alow. gone abroad.’ It is ho exaggeration to say that there is no better hotel south of Washington, D. C. Brunswick is a city of between sev en and eight thousand inhabitants, and lias grown more rapidly in the last tl years than any city in the State *>/’ Georgia. It is situated right in sight of the sea; and has the finest harbor on the coast south of Norfolk. Numerous islands of interest lie in ■close proximity. Among these are St. Simons, destined to be the “Coney Island” of Georgia, and the beautiful Cumberland Island. One of the most interesting islands is Jckyl Is land, recently purchased by Vander bilt and a number of Eastern capital ists. They have already made ele gant improvements, and are building cottages and stocking the island with game and wild animals of various kinds. A pleasant feature about Bruns wick is the beautiful drives around and through the city. The livery is excellent, and furnished at very low rates. Brunswick the “City by the Sea” might appropriately be called, the “City of Beautiful Oaks,” for nowhere are they so numerous, so large and so'beautiful. A most enjoyable time is promised all who go to the Convention. Let everybody who can, go nnd take with them their riding habits and bathing suits, for it will not he too early to go in surf-bathing. One of the best cows in Georgia is owned by John Clark, of Crawford county. The animal will not weigh much, if any, more than 200 pounds, and her milk udder is a perfect sight. She gave more than four gallons of milk at one milking before she had her first calf. Tried for Riot. Ini Clinch Superior Court this week a well-to-do citizen, bis two little sons and two pretty daughters, were: tried for riot. ' The jdry 4 fined the father guilty. and released the child ren, and the father was found $75.00* and costs, or nine months on the chajtt* gang, the Judge prefacing bis sen tence with a neat lecture on the ad visability of that father teaching his children more usetul and elvating employment than going to a’ neigh bor’s house and raising- a distur bance. A Happy Town. The town oLBeUevicw, III., is en tirely free of dogs. Since the terrific nitro-glycerine explosion there a few days ago, not a canine has been seen pa the streets. At the first “report every one started »> i a dead run for the woods, and not one has returned yet. V. Reducing Stock. M. M.
