BARTOW COUNTY SINGERS
MET IN ANNUAL SESSION.
■*
The Bartow county singers met in
regular annual session at Pine Log,
May 4 and 5. The downpour of rain
prevented a morning session on Fri
day, but the clouds lifted and a goodly
number gathered for an afternoon ses
sion.
The convention was called to order
at two o'clock by Prof. J. M. Henson,
vice-president, and a splendid musical
program was carried out.
The Saturday sessions were well at
tended and delightful music rendered.
Prof. W. W. Combs, from Lawrence
burg, Tenn., was with us and gave val
uable help. Among the special features
of the convention were some quartets
by the Gaines Sisters and solos by
Professor Combs, duets by MisS Bes
sie Gaines and Professor Henson.
Officers elected for the ensuing year
were: Mr. C. L. Anthony, president;
Prof. S. A. Gilreath, vice-president;
Mr. D. A. Barton, secretary, and Rev.
W. S. Adams, chaplain.
The convention accepted, the invita
tion extended by Cross Roads church
for the meeting next year.
These annual gatherings are looked
forward to with pleasure by the music
lovers of the county and when they
gather, mingling their voices in sing
ing the old songs and learning new
ones, it is indeed a season of joy and
pleasure.

BUSY TIMES ON
THE GREAT LAKES.
Navigation on the Great Lakes is
now open, and the familiar sound of
steamboat whistles is indeed a wel
come one to many, for not only do the
steamers afford relief from the freight
congestion but also furnish a most
comfortable mode of travel for pas
sengers.
Officials of the C-. & B. Lines which
operate the great ship “Seeanbee” and
steamers “City of Buffalo” and “City
of Erie” daily between Cleveland and
Buffalo, predict that this season will
surpass all others in volume of pas
senger and frieght traffic. Never has
business started with such a rush
which surely reflects the general pros*
perous condition of the country
Vacation trips which afford change
from the every day scenes are regard
ed as essential by the American peo
ple, and thousands are now turning to
the Great Lakes for the alluring trips
by water.

Cincinnati Man Tells How to Shrivel
Up Corns or Calluses so They
Lift off With Fingers.
Ouch I ?! ?! ! This kind of rough
talk will be heard less here In town if
people troubled with corns will follow
the simple advice of this Cincinnati
authority, who claims that a few drops
of a Tirng called freezone applied
to a B ader, aching corn or hardened
callus stops soreness at once, and soon
the corn or callus dries up and lifts
right off without pain.
He says freezone dries immediately
arid never inflames or even irritates
the surrounding skin. A small bottle of
freezone will cost very little at any
drug store, but will positively remove
every hard or soft corn or callus from
one’s feet. Millions of American wo
men will welcome this announcement
since the inauguration of the high
heels. If your druggist doesn’t have
freezone tell him to order a small bot
tle for you— (advt.) _
