COUNTY NEWS. RIVERSIDE. Messrs. C. W. Hubbard and W. R Reynolds were in Cartersville Mon day on business. Mr. Fred Moore, of Oak Grove, was in Cartersville Monday. Mrs. Jessie Swain, of Chattanooga. Tenn., is visiting her relatives, Mr and Mrs. C. M. Shelley, of our com munity. Mr. Fred Madden, of Iron Hill, was visiting friends in our vicinity recent ly. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rampley, of Kingston, spent Saturday night and Sunday with friends and relatives in this corner. Mrs. V. A. Shelley is spending some time in Alabama the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Tom Nicholson. Mr. S. G. Dodd, of Ford, was in our vicinity recently. Mr. W. A. Jones passed through our vicinity Monday. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Hubbard, of Macedonia, spent Friday here the guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Carver. Mrs. Charlie Munchey, of Oak Grove, was visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Butler, of near here, one day las*, week. Mr. J. H. Holbert, of Kingston, was in our community Sunday, the guest of Mr. J. T. Hall. WHITE. Rev. Cochran, of Lin wood, filled his regular appointment at Cross Roads Saturday and Sunday. Mr. Ernest Culver returned t) Farksville Saturday after a several weeks’ stay at home. Miss Nelle White spent Sunday at home. Miss Mattie Sarrette, of Cassville, spent the week-end with Dr. and Mrs. R. E. Wilson. Miss Emma Ray Shelton left Mon day to assist in the school at Cross Roads. School is progressing nicely. The Increase in attendance has made it necessary to employ a third teacher; Miss Mary Haney being elected to the place. An old fashioned tacky party was given by Miss Pearl Leach at he.’ home last Wednesday evening. Old fashioned games and music w’ere en joyed by the guests and delicious re freshments were served. Mrs. Lucile Hamby and Mr. John Haney were awarded prizes for wearing the tack iest costumes. Miss Nelle McEver and Mr. John Peace for behaving in the tackiest manner. Mises Eliza and Kate Richards gave a pound supper at their home Satur t ay night. Quite a number were pres ent. Games were played and a delic ious supper was served. GLENVIEW. Mr. Arthur Duck, of Oakdale, pass ed through this place Friday. Miss Pearl Teel, of Cass Station, ard Mr. John Harwell, of Cartersville, were in Glenview Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Pharr, of Pine Log, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Bruce, Sunday. Mr. Ruoh Pyron, of Meadow view’, was in Glenview’ last w'eek. Mr. Wiley Posey, of Pettits, visited his brother, Mr. Tom Posey, Saturday. Mr. Lewis Burnett, of Cassville, was a! this place Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Stiles Howren spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Nolan, of this place. Mr. and Mrs. Ulas Guyton visited Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Guyton, of this place, Saturday night aud Sunday. The Oak Grove Baptist church has changed its meeting days from the fourth to the second Saturday and Sunday in each month. Rev. Jce Barnett filled his appoint ment here Saturday and Sunday. Mr. Walter Guyton and sister, Miss Loudell, of this place, spent Saturday night and Sunday at Kennesaw, the guests of their aunt, Mrs. J. W. Rob erts. Mr. T. J. Stephens and family have moved into our community. We are very glad to have their.. Mr. Jasper Wheeler, of near Kings ton, visited his brother, Mr. W. T. Wheeler, of this place, Sunday. Messrs. Hughton Tomlinson and Ed McEver, of Cass Station, were visit ing here Sunday afternoon. We are having a splendid Sunday school at Oak Grove every Sunday, would be glad to have more new mem bers. Come everybody and help us out. BIG SHADE. We are glad to report the health of Big Shade is very good at this v riting. The farmers of this section are get ting on fine with their work repair ing old buildings. Mr. Thomas Lumpkin, from Carters ville, was here one day last week on business. Mr. A. L. Cox and wife passed through this place Saturday afternoon enroute to Kingston, where they will spend a few days with their sister, Mrs. Ida Belle Harper. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Cowart, of Car tersville, have been spending a week in Glenview with friends and relatives. They leave in a few days for South Georgia where they will make it their home. The many friends of Mrs. Ida Belle Harper are glad to see her out agaiD after a few days illness. Mrs. Mary Cox has returned home after spending a few days with friends at Rogers Station. If the bright sunshine will be with us for a week longer the farmers will be busy turning their land for anew crop. (Left Over from Last Week.) As this place has been silent so long I wish to say we are still living. The health of our community is very good at this writing. We have a good school at this place and a fine teacher. There is lots of moving among the people in this part of the county. Mr. Ben Sullins, of White, was in cur vicinity Monday. Mr. Marion Brandon, of Grassdale, passed through our little town last Sunday afternoon. He was the guest u f friends in Glenview. Misses Dosia and Effie* Griggs, of Jacksonville, Ala., have returned home after spending a few days with their sister, Mrs. J. W. Cox. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Harper, of Kingston, were the guests of Mr. J. O. Cox and family Sunday. * IRON II IL L. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Kemp, of Iron Hill, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Our school is full under the man agement of Mr. Blackwell, Miss Lucy Bradford and Miss Lydia Adams. They have near one hundred and forty on the roll. All the boys who came home for the holidays have returned to their studies; Elbert Upshaw to the Tech, Bell Upshaw and Harry Bradford to the Medical College and Trammell Bradford to Young Harris. Mrs. C. M. Callahan has returned to her home in Decatur. Mr. Lindsay Bradford and wife, of Quitman, spent the holidays with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Bradford. Mr. Roy Richardson is in Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Roberts visited their daughters in Atlanta last week. Miss Myrtle Kelly is at Mr. Starling Youngs, near Calhoun, teaching music. Mr. O. C. Bradford, Jr., of Atlanta, spent Xmas day with homefolks. Miss Bob Roberts is visiting in At lanta. Miss Minnie Kelly spent the holi days in Atlanta with her brother, Mr. Homer Kelly. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Weimorts an nounce the birth of a son December 3ist. Mr. Claud Hardin, of Sutallee, was a visitor at Mrs. Ropers this week. Mrs. G. W. Covington is visiting in Atlanta and Albany. Miss Lillian McDaniel has returned to school in Cartersville after spending the holidays at home. The next meeting of the Womans’ Missionary Society will be held at the home of Mrs. J. M. Barton on Wed nesday, January 21st. Messrs. O. C. and S. R. Bradford made a business trip to Cartersville Tuesday. * PUMPKIN VINE, * The health of our vicinity is very good at this writing. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ledford are rejoicing over a fine hoy, arrived Jan uary 10. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Jones were the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Hester. Messrs. Melvin Ferguson and Arthur Ward were in our community a short while Sunday. Mr. Thad Dupree was In Stilesboro Sunday afternoon. Mr. Andrew Ledford made a busi ness trip to Cartersville Monday. Mr. Ryles Tanner and Miss Bertha Lee were married last Sunday after noon. Mr. C. W. Dupree and Mr. J. H. Hes ter made a business trip to Carters ville Saturday. There will be a box supper at the school house at this place Friday night, January 16, for the benefit of the school. Everybody is invited. Mr. G. M. Gladden has recently moved to Emerson. Mr. and Mrs. L. F. McMichen made a business trip to Acworth Saturday. There will be a singing at the home of Mr. Wheeler next Sunday after r oon. Everybody is invited. A large crowd attended the singing at the home of Mr. L. F. McMichen Sunday afternoon. Next Sunday is regular preaching day at New Zion. Miss Mattie Cagle, of near Cass Station, attended the singing at Row land Springs Sunday evening. Mr. Shirl Brown, of Allatoona, and Mr. Will Woodall, of near Davis, were the guests of Mr. T. A. Brown Sunday night. Miss Irene Goodson, our school teacher, visited homefolks Saturday and Sunday. The singing at Rowland Springs Sunday evening was very good, with a large attendance. Mr. Wilile Bradshaw, of Atco, visit ed homefolks Sunday. Professor Kimsey Massey attended the singing at Rowland Springs Sun day evening. A good many of the young folks of Center attended the singing at Row land Springs Sunday. Mr. T. A. Browrn visited Rev. H. G B. Turner, of Smith’s Cross Roads, Monday night.
