that Jfartuw eaunty win tins year

The record crop lor Bartow coun

according to United States census.!
report, 21,400 hales ol cottun hau
come into view. There are many
who say that never before in the.
history of the county was there as
much unpicked cotton as was in the
fields on November 15 this year.
Not only is this true, but the con
ditions for making cotton were ideal.
The seasons were such as- to enable
the cotton grower to make: it cheap
er in that not a great deal of ex
pense was contracted on account of
hoeing, the dry season preventing
tin rapid growth of grass and weeds,
Tin season also was productive of a
better grade of cotton. When these
facts are taken into consideration
there are those who contend that
Bartow county will about break

ing the predictions made that we will
'Offer a great loss.
There are those who believe that

-1 hi mate. Last year after November 14
■he thousand bales of cotton wore

every inducement made to rush it to
the gin as rapidly as possible. The

MERCHANTS READY
FOR CiiSIlS TRADE
Buy At Home the Slogan
and Thousands Will Be
Spent.
Uai ter&N iik* merchants are get
lug ready lor their Giinstmas trade.
They are already placing their
ChriutmaiS supplies and articles of
all kinds cm display and a vast
quantity of stuff iias been pur
chased by the merchants to meet
the demands. Due to the fact that
there has been a great deal of sys
tematic saving lor Cristinas expens
es this year, the Cartersville mer
chants expect a big trade, and have
made every preparation for it.
In addition to this there is rapid
ly increasing a growing sentiment
among the people to do all their
shopping at home this year. The
times are such as to create Hie de
sire upon the part of every one to
.make purchases where they wild da
’•lhe. most good and, hence, with
money in hand derived by systemat
ic saving and the desire present to
trade af. home, the merchants fee!
justified in anticipating a large
Christmas business, and to that end
they have determined to cater to
and please their patrons.
Beginning next, week the crowds
will begin to visit the stores and
shops and upon the approach of the
last week before Christmas it is al
together probable that the police of
ficers wild be compelled to insi.-t
4hat street pedestrians keep to the
right.
The Bartow Tribune will issue an
extra edition next week in which
the advertisers will set forth exten
sively and in attractive form their
goods arid morchandi.-e which they
have to offer, and our readers- are
urged to scrutinize these advertise
• ments elosrily and to visit the stores
of these merchants and to do their
Christmas trading this year of all
years- ait home.
EMPTY STOCKING FUND
FOR CHRISTMAS.
With the approach of the holi

people are turning towards the joys
of Christmas—-whether the joy be

Just in proportion as each of you

So with only the desire to bring a
