We wish to commend the Board of
City Commissioners for efforts being
made ui>on their part to secure definite
and accurate information and funda
mental knowledge concerning the
needs of our city with referecne to
(sewerage and schools. The meeting
called during the past week was very
enlightening in that a trained school
architect was able to furnish to an in
telligent company of Cartersville citi
zens. including the commissioners
themselves, needed information and a
detailed report upon what is required
in proper school architecture.
This architect came to Cartersville
at the invitation of the commissioners
themselves and brought with him a re
port which showed he had given
thoughtful study to our school condi
tions, and that his report was bad
simply confirms the opinion of those
of our own citizens who were acquaint
ed with conditions.
We are sure that the commissioners,
having now received the opinion of an
expert qualified to tell, will lose no
time in making preparations to submit
to the people of Cartersville a bond is
sue providing for up to date school
conditions, as well as a sewerage sys
tem to secure health.

P. G. Hooks Spent $2,00Q Try
ing to Restore His Wife s
Health—Gains 16 Pounds on
Tanlac.
Another wonderful indorsement for
Tanlac that will be read with interest
by thousands of frail, suffering women
throughout the south waw given recent
ly by Mrs. Elizabeth Hooks, of Rome,
Ca. Mrs. Hooks is the wife of P. C.
Hooks, a well-known Southern railway
engineer. Mrs. Hooks made the re
markable statement that she had re
ceived more benefit from four bottles
of Tanlac than from medical treat
ment that had cost her husband $2,000,
which he had paid out in the past two
years in an effort to restore her health.
“For about two years,” said Mrs.
Hooks, “I have been in very bad health
and have suffered from stomach trou
ble, extreme nervousness and a had.
form of rheumatism. For more than
seven months I was confined to my bed
and was almost a nervous and physi
cal wreck. My digestion was so i>oor
1 I had to diet myself and rarely ate any-
I thing hut soft boiled eggs and milk
' and things of that kind, and even the
lightest of foods would nauseate me
and lay heavily on my stomach.
“Any sudden noise would affect my
nerves, and my husband had to quit
jetting the alarm clock and the door
to my room had to be kept closed so
1 could not hear the ringing of the tel
ephone. I have had the rheumatism in
my left hip and shoulders so bad I
cculd hardly bear anything to touch
me.
‘‘My condition became so had, my
husband took me to Hot Springs, Ark„
where 1 remained for a month. I had
to use crutches all the time. The
treatment there helped me for a while,
and I returned home. I soon relapsed
into my old condition, and then I was
taken to a specialist in Atlanta.
“I had fallen off from one hundred
and twenty pounds until I only weigh
ed eighty-nine pounds—just a shadow
of my former self.
‘‘The specialist prescribed a course
ot treatment, but before using the
medicine I decided to give Tanlac a
trial. I did this because of what I
had read of Mr. Cooper's new medi
cine and because my husband had
heard so many railroad men recom
mend it.
“That was the best resolution of
my life. I am now on my fourth bottle
and feel better than at any time since
I became ill. I can now eat anything
I want, and my food agrees with me—
besides, everything I eat tastes good
and I enjoy my meals.
“I have set my crutches aside and
actually feel so much better I fold
my husband a few days ago I believed
I would turn off the cook, but he in
sisted that I wait a while.
“I now weigh one hundred and five
pounds, which is a gain of sixteen
pounds, and am improving right along
every day. Before taking Taniac I
was so weak and frail I was greatly
discouraged and could not persuade
myself to believe that I would ever be
able to enjoy another weU day. But I
don’t feel that way now. I am not ner
vous like I was, and I can see and
feel a great improvement. I sleep bet
ter and my strength is returning rap
idly.”

DIXIE THEATRE COMPELLED TO
INCREASE SEATING CAPACITY.
The Dixie Theatre has made im
provements in their auditorium which
has added both comfort and iucreased
seating capacity.
Finding that there was not a suf
ficient number of chairs to accommo
date their large and increasing pat
ronage Messrs. Gould & White added
81 more seats and the house can now
comfortably scat 281 patrons. In order
to bring this about only one aisle will
be used and the entrance to the audi

the two side aisles being done away
with. This will be found to be more
convenient to the patrons, as well as
serving to conserve more space for
