“WITCHCRAFT"
Tale of Old New England end the Last
Days of That Cruel Farce, the Perse

Witches.
The ancient New England supersti

the innocent by unjust and Ignorant
persecution and the final end of the
folly by the Governor's proclamation
in 1693 are shown in the Paramount
Picture “Witchcraft,” produced by
the Lasky Company. Fannie "Ward,
the brilliant and captivating Lasky
star, plays the stellar role.

her himself. Failing to understand
her motive, he does not show her the

Upon Struble’s falling sick he ac

him and she is sentenced to be hung.
In the meantime Wayne and his men
have saved the colony from an Indian
uprising.
Learning of Susette's danger Wayne

to the horrible folly of Witchcraft.
Struble has died and Suzette Is only

New Model Aeroplane.
A Sperry gyroscope-equipped aero
plane, of the type that is being used
by the French and British at the
front, is used in the Famous Players
picture “The Kiss” featuring Mar

aeroplane and the Kiss divide the hon

Try Them All?
If you kissed a masked girl, liked it
and wanted an “encore”—how would
you go about finding her? Owen
Moore, the Famous Players star, In
“The Kiss," a Paramount Picture, finds
a most delightful solution to this knot
ty problem.

AND HERE ENDETH
THE CONVERSATION
Owen Moore’s Chatter Ceases Abruptly
and Star Makes Mental Will.
One thrill that Owen Moore, the Fa
mous Players-Parainount star, had all
to himself and that quite escaped the
vigilant eye of the camera, was when,
on his first ascent in the aeroplane,
Mr. Moore remarked (or rather yelled
at the top of his voice) that it was just
like sitting in an easy chair.
“Have you taken many passengers
up?” he continued, in an easy conver
sational shout.
“No, you’re my first. Just got my
license today,” was the reply.
A sudden silence followed which re
mained unbroken until terra firma was
reached once more.

portrayal of the delightful old customs
there is a great deal of real antique

that make the collector sea green with

hundred couples dancing the dainty
old-fashioned dances adds to the beau

zenith of success. The production is
staged under the able direction of Del
Henderson, and the altogether ador
able Miss Courtot has a role which
suits her to perfection.
During a masquerade in his honor
the young Jean, grandson of the rich
Mrs. Van Vechten, kisses a most at
tractive girl in mask—no other than
Luise, his grandmother's little secre
tary. In his feverish efforts to dupli
cate the experience young Jean decides
to find her by the process of elimination
The complications ensuing when the
various mothers discover his clever lit
tie scheme bid fair to become serious
for Jeau but real difficulties arise when
he discovers that his grandmother’s
necklace has been stolen.
Luise is accused of the theft and is
about to be arrested when Jean inter
feres. He has taken an instinctive dis
like to Pennington, the real thief, and
when Pennington proposes that he and
Luise elope Jean follows them in an
aeroplane.
Warning Luise of her danger, he per
suades her to jump overboard, picks
her up and sails away with her while
the police look on helplessly from the
shore. Meanwhile Pennington is caught.
All would seem to be well but they
quarrel In mid-air about the kissing
episode and Luise by seizing the wrong
lever, plunges them to the ground.
Thinking she has killed him, she kisses
him frantically but Jie instantly recog
nizes, that he has found the girl he
sought and takes her in his arms.
Pennington is brought upon the scene
and the stolen necklace which he had
forced upon the girl is recovered and
her innocence firmly established.
