this store through studying our show windows. Seeing

By no means. The windows are purposely made as attract

marked at prfces as low or lower than those prevailing
elsewhere.
The Christmas Spirit finds adequate expression here.

J. H. MORRIS HURT
AT \A_l YARDS
J. H. Morris, a fireman on one of the
switch engines of the L. & N. railroad
in the local yards of the company, suf
fered a painful personal injury Monday
night while at his post of duty.
.Mr. .Morris was making his way over
the top of the tinder which was filled
with coal in order to place the down
spout of the water tank over the open
ing for the locomotive to get its sup
pi} of water then needed. The coal
was stacked high, and either from
rolling under the weight of Mr. .Mor
ris' steps or through slipping oft' the
oofcl, he fell to the ground. When
picked up by fellow-employees and
carried to his home he w'as found by
the doctors to have suffered a sprain
in both leg and arm, also a strained
back and bruised head. His injuries
were not believed to be very serious
bat on Tuesday Mr. Morris was suffer
ing considerable pain and was con
fined to his bed. It iis hoped that he
has suffered no permanent bodily in
juries and that he will soon be able
to resume his duties as a locomotive
fireman. Mr. Morris is a son of J. A.
.Morris, the photographer, and himself
has a wife.

CHRISTMAS SAVINGS
DISBURSED ID OWNERS
Bank Of Cartersviile Turns
Loose T housands To
Many Depositors.
I ae Bank of Cartersviile during the
past week sent out hot ices to all its
Christmas savings patrons and mem
bers of th& Christmas banking club
furnishing them with information of
how much they had in bank, which
ai all cases included accrued interest
paid by the bank.
The plan was so successfully con
ducted and/so successfully carried on
between the banking house and deposi
tors that a neW club has been started
foi next year. The plan is simple. The
member begins with a certain amount,
as one cent, two cents, five cents or
ten cents, and increases his deposit
the same amoiAt ea£h week; or, a
member of the club can begin with a
certain amount, say fifty cents, one
dollar or five dollars, or any amount,
and deposit the same amount each
week. At the close of fifty weeks, with
deposits kept up, the member of the
one cent club will have $12.75 before
next Christmas; the member of the
two cents club will have $25.50; the
member of the five cents club will
have $63.75, aid so on up to the five
dollar club who would have $250.00.
At the end of the 50 weeks the amount
is subject to the order of the club
member,
That the club has been successful
is evidenced by the fact that the bank
has an army of depositors and the
members of the club saved in this
way thousands of dollars during
the year. This amount represents
to a very large degree savings which
possibly would have been lost in idle
expenditures and to another large de
gree represents savings which come
in at a time of the year when every
body wishes they had some money and
it represents savings which will give
great impetus to the trade of Carters
viile and from which the merchants of
Cartersviile will receive a direct bene-
fit. The number of depositors, as well
as the amount saved in this fund by
them, is the largest yet gathered to- #
gether in a Christmas club in Carters
ville, and the working out of the plan
was so pleasantly transacted that ev
ery member of the club during the
past year will become a member this
year, as well as induce, through praise
of the plan, bis friends and acquaint
ances.
From the standpoint of the business
man and citizen of Cartersvllle,
Christmas savings clubs are greatly
to be commended. They encourage
saving, thrift and furnish each deposi
tor with a knowledge of the. value of
money.
