On nur way to Senoin a few days ago
we called to see Mrs. Thus. Drake, an old
friend of many years’ standing. She is
now lingering on a bed of sickness, and,
by reason of her advanced age and con
sequent infirmities, but little hope is
entertained for her recovery.
The Baptist church at Senoia has just
closed a very successful meeting, with
several additions to the membership.
Mrs. Wm. Gay, of Shnrpsburg, who
was taken suddenly ill a few days ago,
is now convalescent.
We regret lo learn that Mrs. bee Ja
cobs, whose health has been impaired
for several months past, showB no im
provement.
An interesting meeting is in progress
this week at the I’resbyterian church.
The pastor is being assisted by Dr.
Fickler, of Atlanta, who is preaching
some able sermons.
The farmers are complaining of poor
stands of cotton, owing to a lack of
sufficient moisture in the ground to
germinate the seed.
In some localities the fruit crop will
be a failure again this year.
Mrs. Edgar Dominick is the guest of
friends in Atlanta this week.
Miss Mary Moses iH at home again,
having closed her school at Perkins,
Ga , for the term.
Miss Norma Jones, who has been vis
iting her sister, Mrs. J. C. Owen, at
Griffin, for several weeks past, came
home Monday.
Mrs. E. O. Einch, Miss Frances
Grsy Hnd Miss Bonnie Hunter visited
in Newnan this week,
Mrs. G. P. Wilkinson, of Newnan,
iB the guest of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. J. J. Hunter.
Mr. Algie Shell has returned from a
visit to his sister, Mrs. W. S. Gaines,
at Devereaux.
The sick are all improving.

Ga., where a little granddaughter a few
days old is the chief attraction.

Grimes visited in Newnan Sunday af
ternoon.
The Hinging at the home of Mr. G. N.
Strong Sunday evening was much en
joyed by everyone present.
Misses Agnes and Belle Sewell, from
near Newnan, attended Sunday-school
at Providence church Sunday afternoon.

J. E..Banks Sunday night was much
enjoyed by the young people.

Mrs. E. S. Banks and children, from
near Raymond, are spending a few days
with relatives in our community.

singing at Nixon Grove Sunday and re
port a very enjoyable occasion.
Mr. Pleas Lawson, of Atlanta, was
among friends here the past week.
Mrs. Andrew Freeman, of Tavares,
Fla., is visiting relatives and friends
here.
The Sunday-Bchool picnic will be at
Starr’s mill next Saturday. Every
body invited to go and carry well-

Th« second .quarterly meeting for the
Grantville and E me Oak charge was
held at Prospect.church list Saturday,
immediately following th- .11 o’clock
service, which was rendered- unusually
interesting by the impressive sermon
preached by the presiding eld-r, Rev.
W. L. Pierce. The Grantville church
was r presented by Messrs. S. E.
Leigh, J. R. Cotton, J. T. White,
Lovlck Ponder, snd Rev. E. P. Winter.
Mr. A.-'O. Lee was ilected a dele
gate to the district conference, to
convene at Woodbury in July, with Mr.
J. E. Priekett bb alternate. Mr J.
M. Willingham was elected tp represent
I'roBpect .church, with Mr. Warren
Seweil as alternate.
Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Ponder, of Grant
ville. with their interesting little son,
Jim, attended Saturday’s meeting, and,
with several others of the Grantville
delegation, were guests of Mr. and
Mrs. G. G. Culpepper.'
Sunday’s services, both forenoon and
evening, were conducted by the pastor,
Rev. C. E. Branch, who, in his morn
ing discourse, touched very feelingly
on the observance of "Mothers’ Day.”
Mrs. Branch -accompanied him from
Grantville, and they were entertained
for the day in th<3 home of Mr. and
Mrs. R. B. Clyatt.
ft Mr. Osgood Watkins and family and
Mr. Hugh Watkins motored over Sun
day morning from Whiteaburg, and
were guests for the day of their rela
tives, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Sewell. Be
ing Lone Oak boys in years gone by,
they were warmly greeted by many
friends.
Mr. J. R. Herrihg and daughter, Miss
Fannie Hill Herring, came out in their
car Sunday and Bpent the day with
Lone Oak relatives.
Miss lone Johnson, of LaGrange, was
the popular week-end guest of her
Lone Oak friends.
Miss Marie Sewell, of Hogansville,
spent Sunday with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. W. R. Sewell.
Mr. John Claytt, who returned last
week from Jacksonville, Fla., where
he attended the Confederate reunion,
is this week in Macon, to which place
he was called by an important case in
court.
Mr. B. E. Wise returned last even
ing from a delightful visit to various
points in Florida. Two days’ fishing in
Indian river waB a marked feature of
the enjoyment afforded by his trip.
Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Truitt attended
services last Saturday and Sunday at
St. Marks, which charge is grieving
over the resignation of their able and
popular young pastor, Rev. Claude
Grimes, who has accepted charge of
the Baptist church at Boston, Ga.
Mr. Monroe Tally and family, of
Coweta county, were last Sunday's
guests in the home of Mr. and and Mrs.
J. R. White.
The many friends of Mr. E. C. Cul
pepper, who is a patient at a private
sanatarium in Atlanta, are gratified to
learn of his improvement.
The marriage last Saturday of Mrs.
Rebecca Evans, (nee Carden) of this
place, to Mr. Tyson, of Carroll county,
was a suprise to the Lone Oak friendB
of the bride, and their sincere wishes
for her happiness go with her to her
new home.
An entertainment at the school-house
in Lone Oak for the benefit of Prospect
church has been arranged for next
Friday evening. Much fun is in pros
pect, and a full attendance ia earnestly
urged.
Mr. John Barrow and family contem
plate an automobile trip to LaGrange
this afternoon.

Rev. J. G. Davis filled his regularap-
pointment at Bethel church Saturday
and Sunday. Five were added to the
membership by letter.
Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Floyd and chil
dren, of Newnan, visited in our com
munity Sunday.
Alice Mitchell, colored, accidentally
shot herself in the ankle Saturday
morning. The wound was dressed by
Dr. Wood, of Haralson, and no serious
results are anticipated.
Miss Love Smith, of Newnan, is
visiting here this week.
Mr. W. H. Miller had eight of his
nine children, together with nineteen
grandchildren, with him Sunday.
After spending three weeks in our
community Mrs. Frances Grady and
daughter, Estelle, returned Monday to
their home in Atlanta.
Messrs. A. J. and W. W. Pepper re
ceived a telegram the other day an
nouncing the serious illness of their
father Ht LaGrange.
