Kelley, which occurred last Sunday even ing. The novelty of the affair was they went to Coweta county and were married at Mr. Charley New ton's. Quite a large crowd of their young friends accompanied thorn. Rev. W. W. Roop repeated the nice, appropriate ceremony that made them husband and wife. The bride is a most intelligent and at tractive young lady and by her charming personality has gained many admiring friends. The groom is a son of Rev. W. W. Kelley, of this place, and is a promising young merchant. F. Roy Alnum and his sister, Miss Ruth, are teaching the high school at Haralson. They report flattering prospects and are well satisfied. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Edgeworth gave an entertainment to the young people of Whitesburg Saturday evening in honor of some visiting young ladies. They had most ex cellent music rendered by Misses Lizzie Maud Blalock and Ona Cavender on piano and Mr. Olie Camp on the violin. Rev. J. W. McLeod tilled his regular appointment at Fray’s church last Saturday and Sunday. W. E. Herring, of Carrollton, was in our city Sunday. Will has a host of friends here who are al ways glad to see him. Mr. J. F. Jones, of Coweta coun ty, who purchased the Morrow grist mills, has just built a new rock dam, impregnable against any flood that may come, and a three story mill house in which he has put new machinery which doubles the former capacity of the mill. The repairs cost several thousand dollars. Miss On eta Askew, who is at tending the Smith Female College in LaG range, is at home on a short visit. Eggs are bringing 20 cents a dozen in this market. This is the i highest price ever paid for them at this season of the year in the history of Whitesburg. Dr. Friddell, after a two weeks business visit, returned to his home in Meigs, last Monday. We learn with the deepest sad ness that Mrs. J. R. Stringer, nee Miss Sibyl Strickland, of Jackson ville, Florida, is very sick and not expected to recover. At the First Baptist. j (| Dr. Nunually had a large con gregation last Sunday morning and his theme was “Waking a Church.” He made things lively j and stuck many a pin into the body of the saints. Some of them j have been complaining ever since 1 and stepping with accelerated speed. At night he addressed an audi- j cnee in which there were hundreds of young men, on “The Brave Young Man.” His exhortation to courage was helpful to the young people, and a large number will be present next Sunday night to hear him on “The Hopeful Young Man.” Next Sunday morning by special request he preaches to the faithful fire-laddies , of our city and his ; theme will be “The House that ! cannot be burned and the Fire J that cannot lie quenched”—“The fire-proof building and the quench less fire.” The public invited.
