LET EUROPE GO TO WORK.
Montgomery (Ain.) Advertiser.
It i* time to state nn unpleasant fact
bluntly—-It i* time for Europe to go to
work nnd atop depending upon America
for charity. We have, liotwlthntnnding
our energy nnd Industry in America,
come upon hard time* and disordered
condition*. Not the Jcn*t of the causes
which contribute to the depression of
America i* the idlene** nnd lack of pur
pose nnd industry in certain European
countries which have learned to look
to America for food and clothe* nnd
which seem .disposed to continue that
state of dependence.
We are moved to npenk of certain
people -in Europe in thi* manner be
cnu*e some of the American relief
worker* nro reproaching the people of
the United State* for not entering the
League of Nation* nnd for not doing
their duty by people more needy than
they. Of nil the unjii*t indictment*
drawn ngnin*t nn entire people thi*,
when we come to Consider It, in amn/.ing
—that America i* *olfl»li and hard
hearted in her relation* to tho*e people
for whom *ho bn* made *ucb sacrifice*.
And thi*, we know: People will go
hungry on Southern fnrrn* nnd planta
tion* nnd gloom will *it nt the hearth-
Rtonn of unnumbered thousand* in the
South, tho great agricultural section of
the country. Unnumbered thousand* of
imhmtrlnuH American bunine** men will
grow harassed with care to rni*e the
money which ha* been *o lavishly npent
in Europe. If wo nre to rostorc America
n* the treasure house of the world, if
we are to make it again the granary of
the world, we must be given the time
and tho opportunity for our work nnd
1o advise Europe to be frugal a* well
mm industrious.
Help Europe! Wo have done nothing
except help Europe for the last, *lx
year*. Now lot Europe help America
by going to work, a* America hns novel
conned to work. Lot Europe help Ain v-
icn by working to earn the money to
pay for what. America ha* in tint past,
given ho freely.
We always have strength for today, no
matter what we must undergo. So why
worry ubout tomorrowT

FARMERS
Protect Your Vital Interests!
The County Commissioners at their meeting on
January 5 refused to appropriate the sum of $1,200
for the year 1921 to continue the work of the Farm
Demonstration Agent. The U. S. Government ap
propriates a like amount, which must be met by the
county if the work is to continued.
Never before was this work worth so much to the
county. Facing the most critical period of agriculture
in fifty years, farmers are deprived of the only man
whose whole interest is for their welfare !
A capable farm demonstration agent will be
worth half a million dollars to Coweta county in
1921. Do you want to lose this immense benefit to
save the small sum of $1,200?
Do you want to lose the only direct work done
for the farmers ? If you pay the taxes, why not get
some direct benefit ?
This work costs less than 1 per cent, of the
county’s revenue. What money is better spent than
that necessary for farm demonstration work?
Protect your interests now! Write to the
Commissioners, stating your interest in the matter.
Tell them how you stand. The names and addresses
of the Commissioners are as follows:
S. R. CRAIN, Route t, Newnan. J. C. HARRIS, Sharpsburg.
HENRY L. CAMP, Moreland. L. L. HUTCHINSON, Senoia.
JONATHAN 0RR, Chairman, Newnan.
M. B. MBBNEY,
President Coweta County Chamber of Commerce.
B. L. REBWINE,
President Coweta County Farm Bureau Federation.
