Sunday morning Dr, Clms, O. Rainey was
elected superintendent of the Sunday-
Bchool to succeed Judgo Bon T. Burson,
who resigned the first Sunday In July.
Dr. Rainey is a fine type of Christian
gentleman and has taken fan active in
terest in church and community affairs
since his affiliation with the Camilla
church. He came to the local -church
from the First Baptist church of Pal
metto. He is a graduate of Mercer Uni
versity, and is familiar with modern

Mrs. W. T. Lazenby recoived a tele
gram Tuesday conveying the sad news
of the death of her brother, Mr. ThoS.-
Leigh, which occurred earlier in the day
at his- home in Temple, TexaB. He was
04 years of age, and leaves a wife and
four children. He is survived also by
one sister, Mrs. Lazenby, and by five
brothers, the latter being Edward Leigh
of this county, William and Joseph
Leigh of Temple, Texas, Robert Leigh
of Colorado, and' Word Leigh of Shang
hai, China. Deceased was a son of the
late' Anselm Leigh, of this county, and
removed 1 to Texas thirty-seven years ago.
Barbecue at Raymond.—Ray Memorial
School', Raymond', of which Miss Letha
Starr is the’popular principal, in co-oper
ation with Raymond Community Council,
will have a spend'-the-dhy party at "Ray
mond tomorrow, 6th. A barbecue will
be served by the school; for which' a'
charge of 25c. and 50c. will' he made;
the proceeds’ to go for the benefit of the
school. The gathering will he addressed'
by Mrs. Alonzo Richardson, of Atlanta,
prominent in woman’! club work in that
city, on the subject of “Citizenship.”
Athletic games will take place in the
afternoon, among them a swimming race
in Lake Raymond, and a ball' game be
tween the Boy Scouts of Raymond and
Moreland. The public iB invited to
spend- the day with the people of Ray
mond, enjoy themselves, and at the same
time help the school.
A death that 'caused deep sorrow, in
her immediate community as well os in
other sections of the county was that of
Miss Myra Sewell, the lovely young
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sewell,
which occurred Monday night at her
