HULL KERH, EDITOR,
PROCLAMATION IS ISSUED
BY GOV. GILCHRIST
Urge# the People of Florida lo Atlend
the Tuberculosis Exhibit and Edu¬
cate Themselves How to Fight the
Greet White Plafiie.
Tallahassa,Florida.—There
is now being conducted a cam
paign of education for the
study and prevention of tuber¬
culosis in this state. Tuber¬
culosis has been well describ¬
ed as the “great white
plague. 1 ’
The United States census
report for the year ending
May 4L 1900, shows that to¬
tal deaths of the white race
for that year was 892,092.
Of this number 89,963, not
quite ten per cent, died from
consumption. Of the colored
race the total deaths were 147
002 ; 22,236 about fifteen per
cent being from consumption.
The total estimate in Florida
was 6,482. «55q, less than 9
per cent, died from consump¬
tion. Of these 559, 269 died
between the ages of 15 and 24
The state board of health
estimates that the money cost
of tubrurculosis, including
capitalized earning power lost
by death, exceeds $8,000 per
capita, estimating the number
of deaths in I906 upon this,
places the total annual cost in
the United States at $1,100,
000,000 per annum, The
cost of suffering to those who
have this dread disease can
not be estimated.
The state board of health
states that “scientists not only
think but believe that the dis¬
ease can be checked, and not
only checked but obliterated
and effaced from the earth, if
a well organized attempt is
made in the direction of as¬
sistance, and with keen sight¬
ed educational measures and
supervision.”
“Keen sighted educational
measures” are now being con¬
ducted in the state under the
leadership of the National As¬
sociation for the study and
prevention of Tuberculosis.
This campaign is being con¬
ducted with the co operation
of phycians, health officers,
business men and commercial
clubs, women’s clubs, labor
organizations, church socie¬
ties, fraternal orders, schools
and colleges and the newspa
pers.
J therefore recommend :
TL .t all the people residing
in tliis state take advantage of
the opportunities now offered
them, without cost,to become
posted upon, and to preserve
their health from this dreaded
disease.
FOR GEORGIA’S SAKE.

Eat What
You want of the food you need
Kodol will di gest it.
You need a sufficient amount of
good wholesome food and more than
this you need to fully digest It.
Else you can't gain strength, nor
can you strengthen your stomach if
it is weak.
You must eat in order to live and
maintain strength.
You must not diet, because Die
body requires that you eat a suffic¬
ient amount of food regularly.
But tills food must be digested,
and it must he digested thoroughly.
When the stomach can’t do it,
you must take something that will
help the stomach.
The proper way to do is to eat
what you want, and let Kodol di¬
gest the food.
the Kotliing else can do this. When
stomach is weak it needs help;
you must help it by giving it rest,
and Kodol will do that.
