Saturday Session.
The Murray Singing Conven¬
tion met at Eton Oct. 2, 190<J.
In the absence of the president
Mr. T. E. lotspeacli was appoint¬
ed to preside for the Jay. The
convention was called together
by singing led by Prof. J, N.
Barnett, after which prayer was
offered by the chaplain. The
following Sunday Schools were
represented by delegates vis:
Eton, Mrs. Fannie Ellis, James
Steed J. P. Nanney; Fullers,by
S. L Brewer, T. E‘ Lotspeacli
and J. B. Vaughn; Sumach, by
Prof. Lowe, Julian Ricketi and
P. H. Bond; Mason’s Chapel by
T. W. Morris, G. W, Morris and
John Weavers; Dewberry by
Leach Aly, Miss Jennie Mae. An¬
derson and Prof. J. F. Wood.
The following officers were
elected for the insuingyear: P.
H. Bond, Pres., Julian Rickett
Vice-pres., J. B. Vaughn, sect’y
T. K. Lotspeacli, Chap.
The following Committee to ar¬
range the program for the follow¬
ing day, were appointed: Prof.
Barnett, Prof. Lowe, Leach, Aly,
T. W. Morris and S. L. Brewer.
Fullers Chapel was selected a*
the Diace to hold the convention
on the first Saturday and Sunday
in May,1910.
The Saturday session of con
was closed by a song led by Mr.
A J. Brinkley.
Sunday Morning Session.
The convention was called to
order Sunnay morning at 10:30
and alter singing and prayer by
Prof. A. H.-Nanney,after which
the following schools rendered

highly enjoyed by all. Eton,
choirister, J. P. Nanney, organ
ist, Prog. J. N. Barnett- Sumach
choirister, D. J. Rickett,organ¬
ist,Miss Mattie Hanna. Masson’s
Chap, choirister, A. L. Weaver,
organist J. F. Ward. Fuller’s
Chap, ehoiriser. J. B. Vaughn,
organist,iMiss Ella Cochran, after
which the convention adjourned
for dinner, to meet at 1:30p. m
Sunday Afternoon Session.
The convention met at 1:30
o’clock and was called to order
and after three pieces of music
oeing rendered by the entire
convention, M. W. A. Kerr act¬
ing as choirister, the convention
entered into the business of se¬
lecting judges which resulted in
the’election of Mr. Jim Robinson.
Mrs. Jessie Higgins, Miss Lulu
Gladden, after which the follow,
ing schools entered into the con¬
vention for the banner: Eton,
Mason’s, Chap., Fuller’s Chap,
and Sumach. Sumach being the
successful school.
The banner then was present¬
ed toSumach’s representive in an
eloquent speaeh by Prof. A. H.
Nanney. Being no other busi¬
ness the convention adjourned
ro meet with Fuller’s Chap, in
May 1910.
The convention desires to ex¬
press to the good people of Eton
our heart-felt thanks and our ap¬
preciation of their hospitality
and courteous treatment while
with them, also would think it
an injustice not to mention to
the good ladies our appreciation
of their tronble in furnishing
the well prepared and delicious
refreshments.

FARMERS REAP HARVEST,
Over 18,000 Bales of Cotton Sold
at Americus. $1,080,000
Being Received for It.
Americus, Ga.,—Over one mil¬
lion and eighty thousand dollars
were distributed among the far¬
mers of Sumpter and neighbor¬
ing counties marketing cotton in
Americus during September and
the two last weeks of August.
Warehouse receipts of wagon
cotton to date will exceed 18,000
bales, all sold here and proceeds
spent here. Local bankers re¬
port collections excellent as the
result of cotton receipts and sat¬
isfactory prices.
