If We Knew Our Need, No - 7 ' 69
Would We Make It Profitable to Us?
Blind and cannot see afar off is a condition
very prevalent among men, and its accounts
for innumerable woes that men endure. The
blindness that accounts for so many things
that are wrong in the lives of men is not a
blindness of the eye, but a blindness of the
heart that keeps men separated from God,
and from their fellow man Alienated from
the life of God and from their fellow man
through the ignorance that is in them be
cause of the blindness of their heart (Eph.
4 18).
Blindness of heart is deadly to a life with
God, and also to the life we should live with
our fellow man Those whose hearts are
blind are wells without water, clouds that
are carried about with a tempest to whom
the mist of darkness is reserved forever (2
Peter 2:17). All the works of the flesh are,
at their base, the product of blindness of
the heart Blindness of the heart is the great
problem and handicap that men have to
overcome. This is the condemnation that
light is come into the world and men close
their eyes and love the darkness rather
than the light (John 3:19). Know this "the
darkness is past, and the true light now
shineth" (1 John 2: 8).
Take heed therefore that the light which is
m thee be not darkness (Luke 1 1:35). It is
the carnal mind that is darkness, for it is
at enmity against God, for it is not subject
to the law of God, neither indeed can be
(Rom. 8:7) and it prevails because men close
their eyes and stop their ears to the voice
of God spoken by Christ. The veil that dark
ens the mind of man is done away in Christ,
if his teaching is comprehended and follow
ed (2 Cor. 3:14). In his word we discover the
truth about the manner of life appointed of
God for man. Men cannot close their eyes
and stop their ears to the revelation of light
in Christ and inherit that which comes by
the light of Christ. He is the true light that
lighteth every man that cometh into the
world (John 1:9).
Life, that is life indeed, cannot be attained
except the blindness of the heart and the
old man be overcome by the crucifixion of
the flesh, and the lusts thereof (Gal. 4:24).
If men are not blind and deaf to the light
that is in Christ and their understanding
perceives the truth of the disorganized and
chaotic condition of men in their relation
to one another it cannot fail to awaken them

Mrs. I W McLean
to the need of men for a shepherd to lead
and feed the flock. Because of his compas
sion for men, Jesus declares "I am come
that they might have life, and that they
might have it more abundantly. I am the
good shepherd" (John 10:10-1 1). When he
putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before
them, and the sheep follow him; for they
know his voice, and a stranger will they not
follow, but will flee from him: for they know
not the voice of strangers (John 10:4-5).
As it is, and as we are, it is of the Lord's
mercies that we are not consumed (Lam.
3:22). But his mercy waits and if we hear
his voice we will love one another, and if
we love one another, God dwelleth in us and
his love is perfected in us (1 John 4:12). For
many, life is but a vapor that appeareth for
a little time, and then vanisheth away. But
if men follow their shepherd they become
a light so the world and the salt of the earth,
which adds to life an eternal quality that
makes it more than a vapor that vanisheth
away.
Men seek blessings from many sources, but
miss the source from which all true bless
ings come. Men are indeed under the power
of darkness but need not remain so. God
has made provision for man's deliverance
from darkness, and his translation into the
kingdom of his dear Son (Col. 1:13). This
is God's part of his covenant with man and
he keeps covenant and mercy with those
that love him (Deut. 7:9).
Man's part is to not close his eyes, and stop
his ears, to the voice of the shepherd, but
to walk in the light as he is in the light.
Walking in the light seals man's fellowship
with God and with his fellow man (1 John
1:7). Those who do not walk in the light
shut themselves out from God, and from the
relation which God ordained should exist
among men. If we say that we have fellow
ship with him and walk in darkness, we lie
and do not the truth (1 John 1:6).
Everyone that loveth is born of God and
knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth
not God; for God is love (1 John 4:7-8). They
that are of the world, speak of the world,
and the world heareth them. Likewise, they
that are of God, speak of God, and they that
are of God heareth them, but they that are
not of God (have ears that do not hear God)
hears not, and gives no heed, living after
the flesh and not after the Spirit.

Notes on
Chiropractic
BY DR. HENRY L. FOLEY
Being good is a virtue that
comes naturally. It cannot be
bought and sold. You are
either good or you are not.
Being good
I is one thing to
one person
> and something
else to an
other. A good
worker is one
who performs
I his tasks well
without com
plaining. A
good sport
accepts ad-
versity and disappointment in
his stride without whimpering
or finding fault. .A good citizen
is one who obeys the laws and
helps others to do so. He plays
the game of life according to
the rules and tries to make his
best work better.
No goodness goes unre
warded. Ihe law of compensa
tion takes care of that whether
the reward comes directly or in
a roundabout way.
Os course the emotions play
a large part in your conduct, so
does the state of your health.
When you are ill. or emotional
ly upset, you are more easily
offended; and likewise you are
more inclined to offend others
by your own conduct and the
things you say, so be on your
guard.
Speaking of health, do you
know that health, like other
virtues, comes from within'.’
Health is simply the normal
expression of life and function
through the medium of the
nervous system.
Chiropractors maintain that
the spine must be in proper
adjustment so that nerve
channels will be clear before
function can be normal. Chiro
practors locate and correct the
spinal cause of disease so that
health returns and a more
abundant life is possible.
