Notes and
Quotes
In 1964, 44 members of the
Morrow Presbyterian Church
worshipped in make-shift quar
ters afforded by an old resi
dence. This small number
realizing the need for better
facilities, embarked on a build
ing program which would pul
most churches to shame. Pledg
ing 25'i of their income, for
the next 5 years, enabled this
small group to obtain their
goal. Now they have moved to
a fine new educational building
which will be ample for all
purposes until the member
ships climb above the 250
mark.
Nancy Roquemore ol
Forest Park and a student at
Georgia Southwestern in Amer
icus, was a member of the cast
of I hornton Wilder’s “Our

the college recently.
Ihe Optimist Club is spon
soring their annual Boys Ora

this year is “Respect for Law
Cornerstone of Citizenship.”
Ihe American Optometric
Asso. suggests that the real
secret ot safe driving is in the
driver’s seeing habits and how
he uses his vision. I he promis
ing thing about this secret is
that 90 per cent of the decis
ions made while driving involve
vision, and nearly every driver
can learn good seeing habits.
Now here’s a fashion tip
that ought to be of interest to
a lot of women. A news release
from the Cooperative Exten
sion Service says that women
with heavy hips should camou
flage them by wearing light
colored tops with dark skirts,
balance the width of the hips
by widening the shoulder with
slight padding, yokes, wider
collars and lapels, and dolman
sleeves, wear skirts slightly
longer and somewhat flared,
keep skirts simple, void of
detail such as bulky pockets,
button trim, embroidery,
choose box jackets, bolero
styles that balance the top half
of the figure with the bottom,
carry simple handbags and
wear hats with width to bal
ance the hipline.
February birthdays include
Jobie Pittman, Patricia Gail
of the Baptist Student Union
Choir, and a member of the
choir of the first Baptist
Church ot Statesboro. Johnny
plays several musical instru
ments which includes, the
piano, organ, accordion, and
harpsichord.
Jenny is too young to be
involved in too many activities
but enjoys Sunbeams, choir
and other church activities for
her age group.
Each member of the family
with their own interest Mr.
Adams, golf. Mrs. Adams, sew
ing, John Jr., music, Jenny,
anything that’s fun reveals
their ability to have an active
fruitful life outside the home
without distracting at all from
their home lives and activities
as a family unit.
Their devotion to each
other is best exemplified by
their devotion to God, and
their love of God and all fellow
men is quite evident to all who
know them.

Notes on
Chiropractic
By Dr. Henry L. Foley
Many people ask the ques
tion “Why do some people
have so many colds, while
others never do?” They won-
der who gave
it to them.
Some
patients are
more suscepti
ble to colds
and other dis
orders because
of decreased
body resist
ance. Careless
ness in spread
ing of germs is
not good; but germs do not
always cause disease in a body
whose resistance is normal;
whose physiologic activity is
up to par.
Germs must find within the
body a fertile ground in which
to multiply to gain a hold
which will further upset the
body physiological processes.
A winter such as we have
had here coupled with a lack of
rest, increased work, improper
diet has gradually lowered the
body resistance.
The spinal column and ner
vous system plays a big part in
body resistance. Postural
habits, work habits, falls and
collisions frequently shock the
spine so that vertebrae slip
from normal alignment. Ver
tebral displacements can inter
sere with the action of spinal
nerves and lower the body re
sistance.
