Parental Awareness Week
The first “Parental Aware
ness Week” observation held
last week was termed an out
standing success by Mrs. Erich
Sauerbrey, president of its
sponsor, the Youth Protection
Inundation. More than 300
persons participated in the
seminars, with representation
not only from Clayton County,
but also from DeKalb, Henry
and Fulton Counties.
Typical of the broad sup
port was the fact that 21
schools were represented, along
with seven civic clubs, the
Juvenile Court, LOA, Health
Department, and twelve
churches. The churches, in
addition to sending a number
of representatives to the sem
inars, also gave their support
both through their association
and from their pulpits.
On Wednesday, Clayton’s
new Juvenile Home was
opened to the public and a
greater than anticipated num
ber of people were present for
the tours. Mrs. Jack Oswalt,
who teaches art at the home,
prepared a number of oil paint
ings especially for the week’s
observance, and these were dis
played throughout the county.

a film dealing with LSD birth

Much interest was shown in
the several displays at the sem
inars. The displays included
weapons taken from school
children, dangerous drugs, safe
ty factors, and a marijuana
plant, which was burned to ac
quaint people with the smell of
the drug. This was made possi

the program by Mr. Russell L.
Jessup and Mr. E. R. Barber of
the Department of Justice,
Bureau of Narcotics and
Dangerous Drugs.
The keynote address at the
two seminars was delivered by
Mr. Donald Verbeck, State Di

ITEM: A gay and attractive
planter, perfect for family
rooms or informal dining
areas, can be made from an

chains from ceiling or wall
brackets. Fill the hat with
trailing greens like ivy of

ITEM Nonstick cookware
is easy to clean. Washing in
hot, soapy water with a sponge
