Memorial Day.
We havn't time to give a full detail of
U that was done. To alt who have at
tended exercises of this character it is quite
sufficient to say that this day was a reen
•otnu-ut of the old programme. It is true
the ladies of the town, generally, contrib
uted to the beautifying of the grounds
•where the soldiers are buried. A stand
ior the speaker was erected and over it a
beautiful arbor was built of evergreens and
flowers most skillfully and artistically ar
ranged. From this beautiful little arbor,
His Honor, E. It. Harden, delivered a
most beautiful, well timed and appropri
ate address, at the close of which he paid
a glowing tribute of respect to woman, stl
of which we heartily endorse. And espe
cially do we assent to the truth of his dec
laration that without woman, glorious wo
man, this would be rather a opoi<=ljr .<a
tied* conn try.
The Quit/uaiy Cornet Band contributed
greatly to the enjoyment of the occasion,
rendering some of the sweetest and most
thrillingly beautiful pieces. The graves
were literally covered with the most beau
tiful gems from Flora's sweet domain,

The Communication,
