The old City Hail had been torn away and the foundation for the new building had been laid, and suitable and beautiful plans had been secured by the former administration. However practically the entire responsipilitj for the construction of the building has rested upon us. As' tin re w* s no financial provision for the pay nont ot the erection, it be- cam« necessary at the beginning of the year to devise a wav for raising money for this .i n imsc. There was consider able difficulty sttaohed to this account of the money panic which existed throughout the country. However, the money was finally se cured and the bui din/ was completed in the early summer. Th<- material used m the erection of this public building is j of the highest grade, while the work manship is first class in every respect.
