Patterson has recommended local option in strong est lerms, has passed the state wide prohibition bill by vote of 20 to 13. The legislature completed the Work by a vote of 02 to 30 so that it wil become effective next July or Janu ary- Gov. Patterson will probably veto the measure, but if this done an effort will doubtless be made to pass it over his bead. Public sentiment seems strong for prohibition. South Carolina. COLUMBIA, R <1.—Gov. Ansel in his annual message to the state legislature favors state wide prohibition and recom mends that wet counties now be allowed to vote out dis pensaries if they so dedire. In addition to this he recom mends that ik) dispensary be allowed to bottle or blond liquors. E, Tinner, chairman. Prof. M. M. Parks, secreta ry and Mayor Milter S. Bell, treasurer of Ihe building committee. They had charge of the construction of the build ing and have finished their work satis factorily, according to the report made Friday. The state board of trustees for the college is composed of tue following Xentlemen: Fleming G. Dubignofi, chair man; Col. James M. Dupree, vice chair man, Miller S. Bell, John Temple Graves; Dr. R. E. Green, Dr. A.'E. Tigner and Theodore Atkinson. It is expected that a public report will be issued regarding the admirable work of the local building committee onceming the construction of Lamar Hall. GREAT BATTLESHIPS ARE PROVIDED FOR y Washington, D. Z.^-A 129,030,000 ip- crease in the navy appropriation was agreed upon by the house committee on naval affairs. A well defined movement to remove that portion of the state reformatory, which will hereafter be known as the whi te division, from Milledgeville to a farm near Griffin has been started and it seems probable that it will be carried -through if some objection is not raised Everybody In Milledgeville realizes the amportande of improvements at the re formatory, but according to most of the men who exepressed themselves on the subject they regard Baldwin county as the place for the best division, of the reformatory to be located. Consequent ly they want the white reformatory to remain here. ' Another movement looks to the estab lishment of a state farm where all tbe white prisoners would be located and this would take many from the state farm here.
