EATONTON PLAYERS TeachersWill Meet
PRESENTED PLAY
IN PRETTY WAY
Large Audience Greeted High School
Dranatlc Club Last Frida; Week
“Coder the Laurels” Played.
The opera house was picked to the
limit last Friday night when the cur
tain rose for the presentation of "Und
er the Laurels,” which was made by
the dramatic troupe Of the Eatonton
high school. The characters in the play
carried out all their parts in an excel
lent manner and the plot was interest
ing in the extreme.
The affair was well managed from
the beginning and reflected great credit
on those in charge of the work. The
audience repeatedly requested a repi-
tition of various parts of play and en- (
cores were frequent. The Eatonton
crowd came down on a special train and
went back late at night, several, how
ever, staying over in Milledgeville for
a few days.
The fact that the Eatonton troupe re
ceived such a cordial welcome from the
public generally in Milledgeville has
been the source of no little pleasure to
the G. M. C. dramatic club and others
interested in affairs of this kind in Mil-
ledgeyille as the local club received
many courtesies when they west up to
Eatonton with their incomparable play,

an exceedingly interesting one and

The gatherings have met with so
much favor and are considered of so

Another chapter has been added to
now famous case of Geo. H. Bell and

chance to sustain his contention that
he is entitled to his liberty.
The hearing will be held before Judge
Lewis at Greenesboro on next Thursday

This action is only another step in the
plans of those who have avowed their
intentions of Becuring Bel's release
from the state sanitarium where he has
been lodged for the pas} two years.
How ever, all attempts may prove
futile for if the experts at the sanita.
Hum can convince the jury that ha is
not a san« man no .amouut of pres-
tage and influence can secure the right
for him to mix and mingle with a help
less and defenseless public.
Probably ■ large crowd of Milledgeville
people will attend the hearing.

pondents for the occasion and one or
two of the Newark dailies will send
special representatives here to eover
the field.
First baseman Sharpe, of the Newark
team, will coach the local ball team dur
ing his stay here and it is expected that
good results will be obtained from the
practice work carried on under his
supervision.
When the Baseball men arrive the
busy season will open up in earnest and
Milledgeville will be a lively place
Several practice games will be pulled
off between the Newark and New York
teams, the latter being stationed at
Macon for spring work.
In response to an appeal by the Geor
gia railroad for permission to take off
one of the trains operating on the Ma
con branch of the road the railroad com
mission of Georgia has decided that it
cannot allow such action on the part of
the road and the train must continue.
In this connection Milledgeville was
Vitally interested and Mayor Miller S.
Bell appeared before the commission at
the time the hearing was in progress
and looked after local interests in an
excellent manner.
The road also asked for permission to
raise the passenger tariff from two and
a quarter cents per mile to two and one
half cents, but this was also denied by
the commission. According to figures
recently compiled it seems that the
railroads ot the state are still making
much money and consequertlv there
was no reason for allowing the special
privileges asked by the Georgia road.
The net earnings of Georgia roads in
general, as recently outlined, show that
this state is well up in the forefront de
spite the fact that a good daal of agita
tion has been created concerning the
matter.

the crops needed at home.
Several important meetings are sched
