MARTHA BEARDEN DIED FRIDAY MORNING. After a lingering illness, fighting a hopeless battle against the grim des troyer, Mrs. Martha Bearden, aged about 70 years, of Madison, Ga., died at the home of her daughter. Mrs. J. At Odd Fellows hall Thursday night one of the most enjoyable social events of the week was the old fashioned spell ing bee Jield under the auspices of the ladies of the Methodist church. The whole evening was filled full of pleasure for those present anJ in addition to the spelling there was speech-making by pupils of the school of Experience. Mrs. Lucy Walker won first .prize in spelling and Miss Katherine Grier won second. The evening was such a suc cessful one those present unanimously voted to have it repeated without fail in the next month.
