A Strong Programme ol Events Pre
pared by The Committee.
The college bnll team is not absorb
ing the interest taken in athletics by
the cadets to the exclusion of all other
sports.
The annual field day is a strong
rival for the honors with Manager
Reynolds, crack team of ball tossers.
The committee in charge of the prepr*
rations for the day has submitted an
admirable progrume of events, and it
only remains, to fix the date, list the
entries of contestants, select the prises
and work for the affair will be in full
swing.
There are not a few first-rate athletes
among the cadets, and it is [likely that
there will be several entries for each
event. The preliminary practice has
begun—the men sprinting around the
college square before breakfast
every morning, throwing the hammer,
putting the shot, and pulling off ot^ier
exciting stunts. The training will be
constant and persistent, now that the
various stunts have been 'decieded ^y
the committee.

The Committee offers the following
list of events for the field day every one
which will test the skill and ondurwupe
of the participants and prove exciting
to the spectators:
1. 100 yds. Dash.
2. 210 vds. Dash.
3. Running Broad Jump.
4. Running High Jump.1
5. Putting Shot.
C. Throwing Hammer. "
7. Pole Vault.
8. Bayonet Race. Five bayonets
■tuck in the ground 10 yds. apart to be
brought, one at a time, and placed, on
a rifle left on the ground at the scratch
Only one rifle to he used. Each bayonet
to be left on untiil the next is
broughtin. Last to ba left on. Con
testants to assume position of the
soldier and bring rifle to "order arms’’.
0. Sack Race50yds. Each contestant
will furnish sack.
10. Old Shoe Race. Shoes may be
plainly markel witn numbers
on the soles. All to be piled at the 10
vd. mark, men to start from scratch,
run to pile, put on shoes and return to
scratch. Throwing shoes will be allow
ed, 'hat is a contestant nutting on t
shoe other than his own may throw it
away on finding his mistake. Winner
to be the contestant first returning to
the scratch with his own shoes on and
laced and tied.
11. 440 yds. Dash.
12. 1-2 Mile Relay Race; Four Boys

ANNUAL INSPECTION
HELD AT (i. M. C.
Every year the Georgia Military col
lege, which is now under the super
vision of the United States Army as a
military school, undergoes an annual
inspection and last Monday the exami
nation was conducted by Capt. Mike J.
Lenihan, of the general staff. Lieut.
James M. Li'tle is resident instructor
for the Army and he is one of the most
popular citizens of MiHedgeville, being
a graduate of the institution over whose
military department he now presides.
The result of the annual inspection is
not made known before it is rendered
to the war department and then it is
given out from headquarters, buc there
is no apprehension on the part of the
college authorities as they are sure the
institution measured well up the stand
ard.

Commander J. F. Bell is planning for
the Annual Grand Conclave at Brun
swick May 12th and 13th. These oc
casions are full ot interest to the Sir
Knights and their friends anil bring to
gether from all parts ot Georgia a
gathering of some its most delightful
people. The trip .fr.-sm MiHedgeville
will bo the night of May 11th leaving
here on the!) p. m. Georgia R. R. train
for Macon and from Macon to Brunswick
over the Southern, Sleepers will le
engaged from Macon. This trip
is not merely for the Sir Knigits, but
the rates include their lady and gentle
men friends.
St. Elmo Commandery of Brunswick
anticipates much pleasure in entertain
ing the Sir Knights who will be in at
tendance upon the Annual Conclave oi
the Grand Commandery of Georgia. It
is hoped that a large number of ladies
will bo present during the Conclave
special effort will be made to make their
visit to the "City By The Sea’’ pleasant
a .d memorable.
In addition to the ordinary entertain
ment extened the vistors there will be
tendered all in attendance upon t.he
Grand Conclave a boat trip, taking in
the different sights along the coast and
islands adjacent to Brunswick and inci
dentally stopping at St. Simmon’s Is
land where Dm-re will be waiting a r#-
oast, such as only the sea lean furnish.

servations for hotel accommodation be
made through Sir Knight E. K. Conant,
Chairman Reception Committee and up

The Senior Class is hard at work on
the preparation for Class Night exer
cises, soon to be held in the chapel. An
interesting programe has been outlined,
embracing the usual features of such
occasions.
The Senior Class numbers some of
tho brightest minds the school has turn
ed out, and whatever they ptepare for
the public will not be lackinglin striking
