The forty-third annual meeting of the Georgia Educational Association will be held this year at Cumberland Island June23- 25. Under a contract between the Cumberland Island Company and the Asssociation, the Convention is held once in three years at Cumberland Is- and, where the Association owns a large auditorium. The last meeting was held in Augusta, the one before the last in Macon. These were largely st^nded, and both were successful from every standpoint. Among teachers and lay man there is a growing interest in the Association, and people are realizing more and more the importance of its work and its usefulness and power in developing the educational interests of the State. Commissioner of Pension, John W. Lindsey, is anxious to secure a correct list of Confederate veterans resid'ng in Baldwin county, and every other county as for that, so that the next Assembly can frame a proper pension measure, j The same information is desired in re gards to widows of soldiers. This in formation will purge the pension roll of all fraud and supply valuable data from which the legislature can make up a bill that will be beneficial. The local D. of C. will probably ar range to supply this information, but any one who can help out should do and send in names from each district. Local Hardware Dealer Will Have Prominent Part In Proceedings ol State Convenlon. i At the fourth annual convention of the hardware dealers of Georgia, which will be held at Valdosta May 18-19, Mr. R. W. Hatcher.of this city, will have an important part. He will make the response to the address of welcome at the morning session of the first day and in the afternoon he will deliver an ad dress on the subject of “Buying in large or small quantities.’’ The second day he will be equally as bush discussing the subject of a fence manufacturer allowing more than one agent in each town for the, same line. After that he will make an address on “Mutual Fire Insurance,” and at the closing session he will talk on “The Bankrupt Law of Today.” The leading places given Mr. Hatcher at the conventon are generally con sidered as quite deserved and is no small honor.
