Getting Handy For a Big Tiling
The Now York Sunday World is pre

admitted others could legally be charged
tuition. Yet last year, President Parks
gave free admission to more than sixty
students from Baldwin county. How
ever, this has been objected to by mem
bers of the legislature and by many
people from the country.
The chairman of the appropriation
committee of the house called attention
to this, and hence it will be necessary
to admit a smaller number free from
Baldwin county this year. Another
reason for reducing the number is that
there will not be room for so many.
More hoarding students will be loca
ted in the Newell House and in the city,
and hei ce there will not be enough class
room. Again the faculty voted in June
that the number shojld he reduced.

Oconee River Mills may entail some Iobs
at tho beginning, but it means much for
the city and hence it should be encoi

President Parks has returned from At
lanta and will be in his office Friday at
4 o’clock p. m. and desires to see all the
former students who made grade "B”

applicants who received the G. M. C.
diploma. Some of these students will
probably gain free admission, while
others will probably have to pay tuition.

All of the former students who made
grade "A” according the faculty esti
mate will be readmitted with free tui
tion. How many others can be admit
ted with free tuition has not yet been
determined.
Several people think that ahout fif
teen (15) should be admitted free, and
that after that number has been
admitted, others admitted should pay
tuition. However, this has not been
positively decided.
In Fulton county fifteen (16) students
are admitted with tree tuition to the
Tech, while many others pay tuition.
It is to be regretted that there is not
more room at the college, but the pres
sure for entrance is great in other coun
ties as well as in Baldwin.
President Parks desires to accomm o
date as many as possible, hut he simply
cannot admit a great number, because
of lack of room as well as because of
law.
Below is given an extract from a let
ter recently received at the college.
“Dear Sir: —We feel keenly disap
pointed that our daughter cannot enter
the college. In examining the law un
der which the college was created, 1 see
from section 11 that each county shall
be entitled to scholars according to their
white population, and on examination of
your catologue 1 find that our county
has 2 scholars. I notice that Baldwin
county has 50 pupils in the school.
As Mr.’.Roosevelt says,all we ask is a
square deal. This is not written in a
captious spirit,! but 1 feel that we are
not getting our just and equitable pro
rata share of the benefits.”
