are not for personal gain, therefore we
commend for perusal the article in
question. We like to see people take
in an interest in the politics of the city,
goverment and public affairs, for it
shows a wide-a wake, progressive
spirit.
But we take the liberty of differing
in some matters. We conede to all | yote it down and I tell them most assur
a good one. We have yet to hear the
first question as to the integrity or
honesty of purpose of either of the pre
sent officials. Hence the wisdom of
electing them to another term in office.
As to clerk and treasurer I am for the
present encumbent against all others.
With the burJensome rate of taxa

county indebtedness is being diminish

Granting free franchises to rich com
panies would bring on more talk and
when improvements are needed the tax
payers favor first raising the money so
as to save interest and I tell them that
is my way of financiering.
City and county taxpayers are aware
that a largo percent of their tax money i
goes to pay interest and to redeem
bonds which ought never to have been
issued, hence they say if a proposition
is offered to Issue more bonds they will

Millodgeville is making wonderful
slxidea in wealth, in progress, in educa

However,, it seems that in the mutter
of ttdtingcare of health thero is just a
bill* iaxnesB that oufcht to be remedied.
It it understood that two or three in-

men the l ight of opinion and of election.
However, when it comes to thequestion
of issuing bonds for improvements we
are for them. Thu idea advanced by
Mr. Roberts that taxes will frighten
away people vanishes when placad

We believe we can assure the tax pay
ors that the present improvement on
the streets is being made without
borrowing money for the specific pur
pose and, of course, without bonds.
In fact we believe the cost is below
that ever made by and city and this
came about through skillful administra
tion of the city’s affairs coupled with
the strange favors, of fortune thrown
by circumstance into the lap of Mil-
ledgeville.
When you issue bonds of schools you
build up the intellect of vour communi
ty, when you issue them for street im
provement yon double the valus of your
property and attract newcomers, when
edly 1 am with them and will be in the
line.
In a nutshell the taxpayers want offi
cials who can and will pull the city and
county out of debt and establish a low
rate of taxation. Then and not until
then many will come to our city and
county to live.
