daughter, Emma, to Mr. T. J. Pike of
LaGrange, the marriage to occur Oc
tober 28th. Miss Whatley is an intel
lectual und charming young lady, and
is very popular in this (own, having
been a member of the faculty of the
Georgia Normal & Industrial College
for a number of years, and has many
friends here who wish her much happi
ness.
Mr. Pike is well known and has many
friends here.

Prof. H. J. Gaertner, of the G. N.
& I. College, is organizing a trip to
Europe sailingl m June 18th and remain
ing til! about Aug. 25. His party will
see Gibralter, Italy, Anstria, Germany,
Belgium, Switzerland and France.
He is offering the trip at a very low
rate. A number of the present and
former students of the G. N. & I.
College expect to go with him.

The Haag circus which exhibited here
Tuesday was not much of a show when
viewed from the standpoint of the
critic. Only four or five acts were
worth of commendation, however, it
seemed to please the crowd.
Dr. Thos. M. Hail has returned trom
a tour of the north and west where he
visited many insane sanitariums. He
was accompanied by Dr. Thos. M.
Wright’ of Augusta, and they found

Miss Harding spent last Friday and Miss Maggie Whelan sprained her
Saturday in Augusta, attending the ankle severely Monday while coming
opening number of the lyoeum course down the stairs in the Elks building and
while there. was kept indoors several days.
