REAL) THIS NOW Florida Fruit anti Truck Farms T.ic stale of Florida is now spending millions of dollars upon a vast sjstem of canals, reclaiming and developing the Kverglades, the richest body of land in the vorld A claim of 347,000 acres was settled with the state for 67,000 acres of SF.LF.CT lands. This was selected immediately South cf and bordering upon the southern shore of Lake Okeechobee, and is the il-.oiceat part of the Everglades. To the eye it is perfectly level and re sem'ilcs a Western prairie. The soil is simply decomposed vegetable mat ter, blink as m dnighi, fifteen feet deep, free from sand or gri', tree cr Mump, and by United States chemical analysis said to be worth, fo/ its ni tiogen content alone, Jlfooa ton lor fertilizer. Absolutely below the frost line, temperature never above 95 the hottest summer day, and always a re fieshing breeze. Sugar c.ine needs to be planted but ontc in eight or ten > ears, and produces 30 to 60 tons per acre, yeilding from 6.000 to 12,000 pounds ot sugar. Irish | otatoes 200 to 400 bushels per acre and two crops a year; Garden truck, net returns J200 to $800 per acre according to the kind. Grape fruit and Alligator pear orchards five years old, ycild Jiioo to $1000 per acte. Bananas and Pine apples about the same but bear earlier —Oranges, Lemons. Limes, and guivas also yeild rich returns. A town destined soon to become a small city is to he located on this land and will be on the Southern shore of Lake Okeechobee, which is about 40 to 60 miles in width and length. The Florida Kverglades 1 and <’o., are now selling 64,240 acres of this selected land, to while people only, theap and on easy terms, and in tracts of 10 to 640 acres, there being absolutely no difference except as to size of t act and location, the smaller tracts being nearer the canals, lake und town. A uniform price cf $240, ten dollars down and ten dollars a month for 23 months buys a tract and town lot, Representing the company in this proposition I have the pleasure to offer the people of this county what I sincerely believe to be Til K OPPOR TUNI1Y OK A KIKE TIME. There is no lottery, nor fake scheme to deceive or defraud, and the company does not want and will not have one dollar of your money until after thorough investigation you arc satisfied that the picture is not over drawn, and that it is as good if not bet'er than represented—nor would I under any other conditions represent them. MY PL \N OK SALE is to sell fust, 20 contracts, depositing the first payment ot $10 each in a Milledgevillc bank. Then farm a club myscll being one of the number to go as our representatives, and Entirely at The Expense ot The l.and Com pany, to Fort Myers in Southwest Florida, thence by gasoline launch up the beautiful Caloosahatrhce river to the property and return. Returning if his report is unfavorable the bank here will refund to each one his ten dollars, and nobody will be the looser except myself and the land company. Many club representatives have been sent and all certify to the delightful climate, its healthlulncss, the purity of the water anil otherwise give most glowing accounts. Below are a lew extracts from only a few ot those reports lion H. I). Hughes, Illinois Farmers Institute, and Committeeman on Soil In vestigation and Flxperiments ot that state—“Sugar cane, celery, cabbage, egg plant, onions, pine apple, melons, cucumbers, should grow to perlection and where, twelve mouths in the year is at the truckers disposal, 1 do not know any reason why he cannot do better there than almost anywhere in the world. The man who is willing to work can go there with a safety and ex pect tc get rich," Augustus Blake, 633 Corunna Ave , Owasso, Mich, (o' - the Owasso Club)—“1 wish to say tor the benefit ot those who arc fortunate enough to have presented to them a privilege of buying some of this land, that I not Only found the tacts contained in this literature true, hut also ncard tacts regarding the proposition which places it in my estimation far in advance ot any similar ofter which Ins been nude to the American people in many years. Fhrst ot all the climate is idea', ihc w,ver absolutely pui.\ ml I have tailed to find »tt) where the fact 01 pon.tnliiv ■ hich «uuld p. -vent h s land ftom producing all and more than is c’a med for it, and consequently ad vancing to a price which is beyond the possibility ot estimtttng. The soil itself is a marvel and would be worth buying and shipping North as a fertili zer. This is the place for a poor man—an opportunity lies before you now and you better grab one of these farms while you have a chance, the time will come when it will bting you a fortune." \V. A. Wiseman, Desmomcs Iowa,—“The water of the lake is good drinking water and lull ot fish. 1 believe that now is the time for a man to buy these lands, betore they are allotted and all the improvements complet cd,(meaning the canals) and 1 further believe from information received men who know what they are talking about this portion ot the Everglades will be ready for occupancy as a whole in less than two years. For these reasons I have now purchased five ot these contracts and my only regret is that I cannot take several more, as 1 believe they will be very high priced as soon as they arc allotted. C. I. West, Garber Okla.—“I found the lands all that was claimed for it the richest soil in the world and fifteen to twenty teet deep, ideal climate and tree from Malaiia end Mosquitoes. Prof. Albert J. Leads. Ph. 1> Stephens Institu'e of Technology, New Jersey, “1 lound the nature of the water and the muck lands for dozens ot miles immediately around the lake is exposed to the sun and air. Malaria, Ague, Chills and Fever, etc., do not exist when such sweet waters contain ing antiseptic in the nature ot peat-extractive, and when the surrounding lands are pure vegetable mould. The conditions would attract as to a sain tarium, visitors from elsewhere to enjoy the climate etc , of this v ast shel tered sea wing halfway between the Fast and West coast ot Southern Flor ida." O. P. Sutz, Cashier F'irst N.vional Bank, I.enoir. V C. “The com piny is offering a genuine, good proposition and one that in a tew years will be worth ten times vvliat they ask tor it. I believe further, it will be a mat ter of a shoit time only when the when the work will be completed (mean ing the drainage) sufficient for settlement, sav a vear. V We- tern company has a movement on foot to establish a large sugar refinery near this property. 1 met Mr. Goodno who lives near the property, and who set tony acres in oranges seven years ago and last spring sold the grove (or >42000 00, My ©w, t opinion is that it will soon be the garden spot of the Unite 1 States, and as evt lence ot my faith I hare purchased more ot the land since my return.' The above aie but short extracts from the glowing reports of those club repterentativcs and many others ot a like nature and could be quoted. There is no reason why yon, leader should n vt share m the good fortune j that is now knocking at your do vr and if you ihmt it will be vo.tr own tault and one that 1 fitmly and sincerely believe you will within twenty-four months regret. More than half of the 4800 tracts and town lots are already sold, and the balance will not be long in going. A personal letter received last week from the Governor ot F’lorida said She State had no more I ind in the di.linage region tor sale or homestead, and this being the only of tbit land now offered for sale it appears to be the last and only chance to get it at anything in reason. Now is the appointed time.” Yours truly, K. C. BULLARD, Special Agent, Florida Everglades Land Co.
