This not asking that the woman be
made exhorters, local preachers, itin
erant preachers or bishops, but that
they be granted a lci;al voice in shap
ing and developinu the work of the
church of which they are so large a
part.
WHY DO THEY ASK?
1. “Hundreds are doing the work of
stewards, though with no legal right.
Women though members of the
church are ineligible for the ofRco of
trustees, while men of other churches
or no church can act in this capacity,and
together with the pastor and Quarterly
Conference can sell the property often
times bought and paid for by the wo
men.
3. Women ran act as Pres, of Ep-
worth Leagues, S. S. Teachers, pay
their prorata in ail the collections,often
superintendents of Sunday Schools but
cannot be members of the Quarterly
Conference.
4. The women control the entire
work of both tho Woman’s Foreign and
Home Mission Societies and cannot be
members of the General Conference.
The General Board requireo that all
recommendations and appropriation be
subject to the advice and approval
of the General Board, Also that all of
our candidates pass a committe from
this same hoard, although they have
had two years special training and have
met the requirement! of the Woman's
Board to serye the church, also we own
property va) jed at more than one half
a million and have expended since or
ganization three million the General
Conference have restricted the women
from the expenditure of more than
$5,000, of their own funds, for purchas
ing property, erecting buildings etc,
without their consent.”
That the Home Mis.ionarv Society
may always have a fund to relieve those
that a committee finds needs this help
a local department has been organized,
each member paying into this fund five
cents per month. We would be glad to
have eyery member of the church in
this department, if you are not fully con
nected with the organization.
