Quite a number of young people
spent a pleasant evening at Capt.
Conn’s Friday when Miss Lucia Conn
was hostess of the Epworth League
and its friends. A program, consisting
of a contest, vocal and instrumental
music and talks by the League’s Presi
dent »nd Rev. Dempsey, was enjoyed.
Delicious home made caudies were
served.

Mr. W. T. Conn, Jr , of the Milledge-
ville Buggy and Furniture Co., has
been in Atlanta several days this week
and while off on the trip the store was
in the charge of Mr. Jos. A Moore.
Mr. C. E, Greene left Tuesday night
for p. trip to points in Florida.

Prof. E. N. Reynolds, superintendent

Mr. Robert Parker Miles lectured at
the Georgia Normal and Industrial Col
lege last Saturday night. Mr. Parker
is a very genial gentleman and in con
versation with a representative of The
News declared that MilledgeviUe was
blessed in many wavs, the flowers,
grass, historic buildings and beautiful
scenery, all being so attractive. Mr.
Miles is a famous newspaper man and
for five years was on the New York
Journal. His place is now filled by
John Temple Graves, who was a di
rector of the Georgia Normal and In
dustrial College.
The Daughters of the American
Revolution will hold u meeting tomor

home of Mrs. J. L. Beeson.

Mrs. J. H. McComb was a visitor t<J
Dublin the past week end.
Mr. W. N. Little left Wednesday to
visit Griffin and Atlanta the remainder
of the week.
Mrs. W. A. Cook has been on a visit
to relatives in Jones county this’week.
Mr. Charles Morris, Jr., who has been
with the A. J. Carr Co., has been given
a laplendid position with the Stubbs
Lumber Co., of Denton, Ga. and left
Tuesday night. Mr. Culver Kidd com
plimented him with a supper before he
left. Mr. Morris has many friends
here who wish him much success.
Mr. Oscar Whilden, of New Orleans,
son of Judge G. T. Whilden, is In the
city for a few days visiting his parents.
It has been some time since he was
here, keeping very busy at his work on
one of the big liners between New Or
leans and South American ports. He
will be here for several days.
Rev. Richard Hamilton, of the Sacred
Heart Catholic church, will make a trip
to his missions in the territory during
the next few days, leaving here tomor
row. The new Catholic church at
Dublin is being erected now under
Father Hamilton's supervision and
when completed it will be a credit to
that city, _
Mr. Jeff Rogers returned to the city
Tuesday after spending several days
with his parents at Deering.
Miss LesBie Maddox, of Putnam
county, is visiting her Bister, Mrs. Geo.
P. Brantley, here this week.
