To the CLUB Women of MiUedgeville
I consider it a great privilege to be,
allowed to send you a word of greet

opportunity to meet with you in the
near future.
"My God I thank thee, who hast made -
The earth so bright;
So full of splendor and of joy
Beauty and light,
So many glorious things are here
Noble and right,” .

Ulu ' man, a visitor
is over and we become normal again.
Wo realize fully that In order that
cui^- citizens “may be brought Into
proud leadership In our State and Na
tion, we must have living vital <to«-
tact with alf the avenues of thought
we must haye books and the Woman’s
Club stand* firm la it’s plea for *
line Public Library for Sjllledgevlls.
Our Woman’s Club, along with the
two patriotic societies of women in
MiUedgeville, were all the contribu
tions that our town could boost of,
In ttffe much needed mlllon dollar
Library Fund fojr our Soldiers.
Our Club is glad to hslp again In
the sale of Red Cross Seals for the
promotion of. thart. dreaded disease,
tuberculosis. We hope, we long to
have a line County Federation Club,
securing thereby mental stiin-
ulatlcei as a result of the interchange
of ideas.
And last, or.r'club Prosdent, like
the prophet Nehemlah, ljas faith
enough in her plans for work, tha\ she
horself, in every line, Is willing to
help bring them to success.
Dl DYOil KNOW
That no town has more beautiful
natural surroundings.
That we have hers the prettiest
trac3 of any town In Georgia.
That wo have vein* «d drives out
from our city that are not surpassed
for natural beauty anywhere.
I feel that we all belong to one
great, big, family and we are all work
ing for heme, the State and the Na
tion, and the ruling thought with us
is "how can we be of the most ser
vice?”
Those beautiful words of Goethe so
often come into my mind and help me
from day to day:
“Rest is not “quitting the busy career,
Rest is the fitting of self to it’s sphere.
’Tis loving and serving the highest
and best
’Tis onward unswerving, this is true
rest.” '
Yet with this in our mind comes the
thought of conservation, a word to
much used these days and so very ex
pressive, the conserving of our mental,
physical, and spiritual powers so that
there may exist perfect harmony cf
action and no. wearing out of cithor
one or the other to make a discordant
note. Therefore 1 give to you the best
rule I have ever learned for ones daily
life—werk—rest—and recreation—add
to this the elimination of worry and
a habit of ’‘casting our cares upon
Him who carcth for tis" and you will
ho happy oven if liig)h prices prevail
and war rumors ffoat in the air every
minute. ,
Cordially Yours,
(.Mrs. NKI LIE PETERS rfi.ACK.

That he had the whole world by

Mr. Hlgh-cost-of-living looked down
From his throne
And to his surprise and disgust—
He saw people doing without many

They were used to—because they
“needs must”. . -

Cutting out ail the things that they

We women may not lie as smart as

Hut we’ve got a terrible “hunch”—
Trat if we believe a thing is “dead
right”—
You can count on the whole “bloom

evil is striking hard at the very foun
dation of civilization itself-the home
and womanhood. Without woman,
there can be no homes; without Woman
there can be no civilization.
Fully awake to the serious issues
of the hour, and praying unceasingly
for Divine guidance of mind, and unity
of hearts, let us protect our own ranks
against the cruel, crushing forces of
evil that would destroy our woman
hood, that would destroy our oAspring
—our children. As Club wmen, let us
protect ourselves by adhering closely
to our federated werk, for by doing
-this, we will keep our hearts clean Ug
by honest service to eur followtttan
and In this way* help truth over-come
that which is wrong, good over-come
evil, and love ovfr-csms hato.
Allow no dls-intergrating influence,
from the smirces of disloyalty, or
criticism, to enter your minds, or to
•onfuse the clear issue. There is only
one way now for real American wo
men and real American men to take,
and that way is, ALL FOR AMERICA!
No conditions of any kind, no excuses
or explanations; jusC'plain straight
forward woman-uood and plain
straight-forward manhood for our
American principles cf RIGHTNESS.
It Is the time now for all personality
to lie lost in the higher awaken*!
feelings of Duly, Loyalty and Service
to our Country, designated by God
hemself to bo • used in making the
world safe for woman and children-
safe for civilization.
