SERVICE
We have recently employed additional mechanics on account of
the large increase of business in our repair department and are now
better prepared to serve Ford owners. >
Our men are all experts on Ford Cars and have spent years in'
repairing and overhauling Fords. They have specialized on this one car
therefore it is reasonable to assume that they are better qualified to
seive Ford Owners than those who divide their efforts on various-
makes of automobiles.

WE USE ONLY GENUINE FORD PARTS.

Only the quickest action Imaginable,
which Included the shipment of. tre
mendous quantities of hospital sup
plies from Red Cross stores In France,
us well us large purchases In Italy,
made the emergency work of the
American Red Cross possible during
the recent distress In Italy brought
about by the rout of the Italian army.
No such mission for human help has
ever seen the like of this heroic work
b.v the American Red Cross In Italy.
For the winter's needs It was found
that 750 tons of hospital supplies were
required, and these were ordered in
America for Immediate delivery to
Ituly.
Some of the things ordered were an
aesthetics, surgical instruments, rub
ber goods, enamel ware, gauze, ab
sorbent cotton and drugs. Just what
such a shipment means Is difficult for
a layman to grasp.
If you’d like to see your druggist
lose all his senses at once Just tell
hun about some of these qungtltles
that were ordered for use In Italy.
Tell him tlint 2.10 pounds of quinine
were ordered. Since the war quinine
has been difficult to get at any price.
It has Jumped from $2.50 a pound In
France to $80 a pound. (Julnine Is
very badly needed In Italy, and this
Red Cross shipment has been nothing
short cf a boon.
Other Items which give a better Idea
In terms of the things which mean
most to the wounded are 15 tons of
chloroform and 25 tjons of ether.
These Items are beyond the power of
the layman to visualize, but he cnn
come nearer to picturing 2,000 bales of
absorbent cotton, the quantity asked
for.
Orders for all these goods for Italy
were placed last winter In America,
and the American Red Cross has seen
to it that shipments bf each Item are
In process of delivery right nlong to re
lieve the terrible misfortune of the
people in Italy. -

DEAN ANNOUNCES
FOR SENATE RACE
Says Harris Hardwick and How
ard Dare Not Meet Him In
Debate, And Are Polit
ical Weaklings
H. II. Dean, Gainesville attorney-at-
law, already prominent In tho Geor
gia senatorial race by reason of his
I challenges to William J. Harris,
Senator Thomas W, Hardwire and
I Representative William Schley How-
j ard, his opponents, has made public
J announcement of his candidacy and
I will later issue his platform.
The new candidate indicts each in
j turn—Harris for his connection with
j the Macon convention and the Harrt-
! wick election; Hardwick for his rec-
I ord in congress, and Howard for
j "with considerable bluster annoutc-
I ing that the alabaster box, supposed
to be only for Harris, had been a’so
broken for him."
Announcement in Full.
Here is the'complete statement:
“May 11, 1918.
“To the People of the State cf Geor
gia:
"I hereby announce my candidacy
te the high and honorable office of
United States senate, subject to the
September primary and respectfully
ask the support of all white voters.
“I have qualified by sending my
Entrance fee to the secretary of the
state democratic executive commit
tee, and will publish my platform at an
early date.
“I am opposed for this office by
three chroni* officeholders, Messrs.
Harris, Hardwick and Howaid, all
with unsavory political records. I
have challenged each to a discussion
ol his record with like results.
As to Mr. Hsrris.
“Knowing that Mr. Harris would
net and could not make a public
speech I gave him an open challeng
ing letter, pointing out specific
charges, which, if true, totally unfit
him to represent Georgia in the
United States senate. If untrue, they
called for a speedy, quick and em
phatic denial. The public in familiar
with these charges. A month has
passed and not one line of denial hsa
been attempted, though there were
hundreds of witnesses in the Macon
convention by whom I could have
proven every word charged, had he
denied the same. He stands convicted
by his silence.
Charges Against Hardwick
"When Senator Hardwick came to
Georgia, prepared to enter upon a
campaign of abuse and villification of
President Wilson and the Democratic
administration, beginning at Carroll
ton and extending from county to
county throughout the state, 1 stopped .
him with the direct challenge to
meet me face to face, and presented
him with twelve specific charges, at
tacking his record. These charges
have been printed broadcast for three
weeks. Had he possessed one te
, retaining trait of political character
j lie would have met me and denied
| the charges, or retired froin tho race.
! In fact, he turned botli head and tail
| and left the state with only ono
i speech, and now announces that his
i duties are so pressing lie cannot re
turn to Georgia until congress ad
journs. This means, in my judgment,
that he is absolutely eliminated from
the race and will never return to dis
cuss his record before a Georgia au
dience.
Challenge to Howard
“Then came Congressman Howard
with considerable bluster announcing
that the alabaster box supposed to
be only for Harris, had been also
broken for him. I challenged him on
the threshold to meet me at Wrights-
vllle, his chosen place, among his
relatives and friends. He sidestep
ped a general debate and backstop
ped a sept rate debate.
“He absolutely refused to let me
meet him In Wrightsville, and old
not allow me the courtesy, as Mr.
Hardwick did, to follow him in the
afternoon. Like Harris, be prefer* a
gumshoe campaign where he can
meet the people, shake hands, make
loud promises and cover up that
which the public is moat anxious to
leara.
“None of them darn measure
•words with a plain Georgia citizen
and none of them dare have the
searchlight of truth turned upon
his political record.
“They are political weaklings.
“However, they cannot escape The
people demand and shall receive full
and complete information.
“I extend them one more opportuni
ty, either separately or jointly, to
meet me and defend their political
poeitiona and records. If they still
decline, I will go before the people
with the unassailable truth.
‘‘Toon sincerely,
“H. H MAN."
