Patriotism That Pays
a Profit
IF IT IS asking too much of you to pledge
yourself to save—then certainly it is asking
too much of our Soldiers to pledge their lives.
Don’t grumble secretly to yourself or to
others about the many campaigns. End them
by helping to end the war. The War Savings
Campaign is for the purpose of ending the
war victoriously at the earliest possible mo
ment.
You’ve boasted your patriotism — now
PROVE IT! Lend every penny you can save
to Uncle Sam. That’s patriotism that pays a
profit

| New oYrk, June 19.—These warm
| days are bringing out the most de
lightful of warm weather costumes
I and the odd fancies and frill that add
to the picturesque charms of season's
modes. There are combinations of
materials and cclors that absolutely
fascinate us. One charming coat
dress of linen and heavy cord about
an inch in diameter couched on in a
bold design above the hem of the
skirt, the cord sewing also as a girdle,
with a tassel six or eight inches long
on the end. This dress was in corn
flower blue linen, with white organdie
underwaist and the cord was white,

spised materials of ot;r childhood have
advanced their states into the van-

For The. Summer Girl,
Speaking of capes, the one illustrat
ed here is one of the most attractive.
It is of Belgian blue taffeta, lined with
peach color, and seems the fitting
mpanion for the stroll on the beach
or the board-walk. The belt, of which
only a glimpse con be caught from the
back, behaves itself in a manner more
common to belts in the front, and thus
turns the wrap itself to thoughts of
being a coat. ePrhaps coatee is
better name for it anyway, for it is
neither a coat nor a cape.

a turban.
The Pro D lem of The Summer Wrap
Suppose you had to have a wrap that
was just exactly right (and goodness
knows we all do!), what would you
decide upon? There are the smart
little sleeveless overblouses that can
be made in different material for dif
ferent occasions; there are the light
weight coats of silk or satin, with
flowing sleeves and a sash perhaps;
there are bewitching little capes, waist
length or longer ;and there are scarfs
of satin, chiffon-lined, to throw about
the shoulders cn cool evenings. The
only difficulty is to decide which of the
various styles is the best for your in
dividual need, for they are all the
smartest of the smart.

Perhaps you think you can got along

Trimmed With Percale!
The other day in a very smart ex

ing little morning dress of white lin

dotted percale was used for the perky
little ruffles on the waist and formed
the deeper ruffles, three In number,
that composed the skirt below the
deep shaped yoke of linen. Qalnt and
old-faahloned but very,very smart.

are parasols of percale, too, with In
