newspapers openly attack the speech
made by Emperor William at Ger

niversary.
Calls Bill Brown.
The Post of Munich says that the
feast oculd have been celebrated by
a measure of clemency and hrriianity
instead of with a speech of war-like
tenor against England without con
taining words of thanks to his own
people.

together.
When the producer gets high

Senator Hardwick believes may swing
him back into the senate, but this
is very doubtful.

Burning of Electricity And Gas In
Homes Will Be Cut In Half By The
Government.
Washington.—The public will be
asked scon by the government to
broaden their list of war sacrifice to
include electric lights and gas, as a
means of saving fuel .
Conferences between representa
tives of the fuel administration, the
war industries board and the shipping
board have developed that every
phase of America,s war-making is de-
nendi nt on coal in the final analysis.
The fuel administration frankly has
warned the nation that the visible suit
ply of coal will not cover the needs cf
war industries, householders and
private industries.
Instead of shutting down all non-
war industries to save fuel, thereby
throwing many persons out of em
ployment. an effort will be made to
effect such a reduction in the private
consumption of coal that many facto
ries will be enabled to operate part
time at least.
Details of the plans under discus
sion became known Wednesday.
One suggestion being studied is to
notify all householders that they may
sonsume hereafter only half of the av
erage amount of electricity and gas
burned each month during the past
year.

About
Gone
Many thousands ol
women suffering from
womanly trouble, have
been benefited by the use
of Cardui, the woman’s
tonic, according to letters
we receive, similar to this
one from Mrs. Z. V. Spell,
of Hayne, N. C. “I could
not stand on my feet, and
just suffered terribly,”
6he says. “As my suf
fering was so great, and
he had tried other reme
dies, Dr. had us
get Cardui. . » 1 began
improving, and it cured
me. 1 know, and my
doctor knows, what Car
dui did for me, for my
nerves and health were
about gone.”

owe it to Cardui, for I was
In dreadful condition.”
If you are nervous, run
down and weak, or suffer
from headache, backache,
etc., every month, try
Cardui. Thounnds of
women praise this medi
cine for the good It hat

physicians who have used
Cardui successfully with
their women patients, for

Different
Tire
You can tell Ajax
Tires by their special
features. They are
plain to see and there
for a reason. In a tire
you want miles, you
want comfort, too—
and uniform service.
JL3AX Shoulders
of Strength
make this tire differ
ent from every other.
See, in the picture,
just how these sup
porting shoulders are
built out to reinforce
and cushion the tread.
This means more
rubber where it
should be — extra
strength where the
road strain comes.
No other tire has this
excess mileage fea
ture. Ajax controls
the patents.

ROAD KING
is a different non-skid

in amazing mileage

Patriotism That Pays
a Profit
IF IT IS asking too much of you to pledge
yourself to save—then certainly it is asking
too much of our Soldiers to pledge their lives.
Don’t grumble secretly to yourself or to
others about the many campaigns. End them
by helping to end the war. The War Savings
Campaign is for the purpose of ending the
war victoriously at the earliest possible mo
ment.
You’ve boasted your patriotism — now
PROVE IT! Lend every penny you can save
to Uncle Sam. That’s patriotism that pays a
