the Woman's Work of the local Red
Cress, stated that she had received

headquarters announcing that a ship-

In Honor of Mrs. Whitney.
•Mrs. W. F. Little entertained the
Hill Club Friday afternoon at her
lovely suburban home in honor of
Mrs. F. S. Whitney, of Elkton, Fla.,
who was a former member of the
club.
Tin house was beautifully decorat
ed throughout with summer flowers,
asters and dahlias being used in the
parlor, yellow zenias in the reception
hall, while red penias adorned the
sitting room.
Rook was the game played and late
in the afternoon sandwiches, tea and
cream were served at the small card
tables.
The guests included Mrs. F^S. Whit
ney, Mrs. J. A. Calloway, Mrs. .1. D.
Howard, Mrs. George Reid, Mrs. T. M.

Dr. and Mrs. F. S. Whitney, of Elk-

bered here as former residents of Mill-
edgeville, are at the Baldwin hotel.
The friends of Airs. L. C. Miller,
who as Miss Sarah Moore, was a pop
ular member of the Georgia Normal
and Industrial College faculty, will be

the Sparta news: “Mr. and Mrs. L.
C. Miler, whose marriage took place
•at the home of the bride, Miss Sarah
Moore, at Maysvllie, two weeks ago,
have returned from their wedding trip.
They motored through the mountains
of North Carolina and Tennessee,
spending some tiime in Asheville, Sa
luda and Chattanooga. They are at
the Drummers' Home now, but in a
few days will be at home on Elm St.

from northern markets, where he se

One car of the Fords arrived this

Mr. Frank Bivins, who has held a
position with the Alerehants and Far
mers Bank during the last two years,
has accepted employment with the
Third National Bank of Atlanta.
Aliss Genevieve Joseph eturned
from Augusta this week accompanied
by Aliss Ruth Mertins and Miss Jennie
Butler, who will he her guests for
several days.
Airs. John H. Malone is visiting rel
atives in Tennille and her daughter,
Miss Jennie Ruth, is visiting relatives
in Bostwick.
Airs. E. D. Treanor, Aliss Sallie
Treanor and Lieut. Dick Treanor, re
turned to Athens Monday after a vis
it to Mr. and Mrs. G. C. McKinley.
Air. Leo Joseph is at home from
Gainesville, hut Airs. Joseph and little
daughter will spend the remainder of
the summer there.
Miss Mamie Vinson left Tuesday
for White Sulphur Springs, Fla.,
where she will spend her vacation.

The friends of Mr. and Mrs. J. H.
Malone will regret to learn that they
expect to move to Llthonla the first
of September.
