Care of Silk Hose.
With a little more care and atten
tion silk stockings may be made to
wear two and even three ninths. If
before wearing they are washed in
lukewarm water they become more
glossy and also strengthened, as silk
takes very kindly to water. After
each wearing, also, the stockings
should be washed in lukewarm water
and white soap.
If the stockings are white they
should be jjut in a drak room to dry.
Never dry white or colored stockings
in the sen. The Japanese are said to
put all white silks in a drak closet to
dry. This will absolutely keep them
from yellowing. The use of hot water
according to those who know, is pro
hibited In the washing of silks Alstk
avoid rubbing.
And now as to the wearing of silk
stockings. They absolutely must not
be worn tight. If the stocking is
pulled to Its full length and caught at
if any
“runners’’ occurring within a reason
able time. •
Wear your stockings comfortably,
not too lc-ose, or too tight. One ex
treme Is as bad as the other. A stock
ing with a lisle foot will wear better
than an all silk one.

That, says Judge Patterson, lifts

all of which have passed through the

provided for through the 1918 program
amounted to something more than

fact that Peachtree street, Atlana,
