Citizens of Atlanta Spend That Much
in Investigating Police and Detec
tives.
Alfred C. Newell, chairman of the

gation, and engaged the services of
Attorney Eugene R. Blaak to conduct
the solicitor’s side of the investig.v
tion and present the solicit,.r'c evi
dence. cn Saturday issued a statement
showing the amount of money raised
; by the solicittor, and the committee
upon the investigation. The state
ment sliows that the committee col
lected $7,970, which was not quite
enough, Mr. Newell states, to pay Uie
expenses Incurred by the committee.
He expresses t'hte opinion that the in
vert igatlon will lead to a reorganiza
tion of the entire police system, and
that Solicitor Boykin has not been
damaged In tlio least by the criticisms
directed at him by the lawyers on the
