On Thursday morning and after
noon Mrs.* G. A. Lawrence and Mrs.
JI. H. Herndon were joint hostesses
at two parties given at the lovely
suburban heme of Mrs. Lawrence
at West End.
The rooms in which the guests were
entertained were decorated in quan
tities of cut flower.s Rook was
played and a delicious salad course
was served. ,

Col. J. N. Haddock has returned

has been appointed temporary post
master at Sparta to succeed Mrs
Julia Fleming, deceased, The ap
pointment takes immediate effect,

Lewis as postmaster will requite
him to sever his connection v'ith the
