Some of the young men at Welch & Bacon’s got up a kind of pool as to what would be Colquitt’s majority in this county. The pool was opened seven! days before the election. The mode of procedure was .to write what you thought the majority 'would bo on a slip of paper, sign your name and put the paper with‘5Q cents into a hag;' the nearest guess would get all the money thus pooled. A large number made guesses ranging from 50 to 999, and the latter number made by A. P. Herrington, won the pool, which con sisted of $15,00.
