In thirteen months this is the first

of Georgia. I have been quietly at
■••tiding to my own business, and
lulling other’s atone. But, notwith
standing my wish for qntet, I see that
the president of the school board in oar
(Worth) county with the assistance ef
hi, private secretary, O. A. B., whose
nrname is Brack, has dragged a por
tion of my son it pl*m* before the pub
lic aa a co-worker with “G.,” who lias
t een publicly laying the school fund
:uetdon of Worth before your readers,
and, in so doing or as much as has ref-,
crenoe to me, be has committed a
wrong that no gentleman ought evir
ha guilty of. lie saya my vounet.-
tlon with the lost cemmunh-atiou ol
‘•G.'a” be had from “tolerable’’ good
authority, and now please allow me
space tossy, that even disregarding his
grammar as president of said board, bis
authority was only :i reiteration of
“Whittaker’s Dream” with the i.fflx
its added. I only write till, to sre tlie
venerable old gentleman (?) square
before tbe public in regard to the
rbarges made against me, he had been
advised by “G.” to go to the office of
HieXgws *XD Apvei.tiskb to asrer-
t iln to a certainty who wrote the com
munications in question, though it
would appear from his last that hr pre
ferred to sboot in the bushes thin at a
lawful target.
Come now, Mr. President, le: us
reason together, and then call on that
“ood book you quote, and sec if yon
have right to prs-Jngeor even judge
without good evidence.
I do not even, for a certainty, know
who “G.” Is, and he, she, or it, nor
any one else has had my assistance nor
advice. .in regard, to the public school
'{tiestinn of Worth this year nor any
previous one, for 1 have no scholars of
my own, legitimate nor otherwise, to
attend said school nor shall take any
stock in it. And I verily believe that
that president does hltnselfan injury,
when he tackles “G.,’ a* to his own
old citizenship. J have not the shadow
of a donbt but that “G.” has been rais
ed, or in more appropriate language,
i cared in tbe same territory, that is to
ray, In Worth county now, but then,
at their birth. Dooly or Irwin or It
may be that they represent both, and
so far as their worthy citizenship is
concerned as materially beneflttlng, or
Injuring young Worth county, I am
inclined to the opinion that there is no
ua.- in trying to “nip up and doodle
down," unless tbe president wants to
take the “doodle down.” I, a* an ont-
ldcr, can ray this much for the bene
fit dr information of all concerned,
that w hen 1 became a voting citizen of
aiiy county by being free by age, It
was of the Confederate States of Ameri
ca, and ray first ballot was cast in the
City of Richmond, Virginia, and my
business there was not to receive tithe,
that “my eye* might stick out with
fatness,” but to regain strength and
health shot out on the ever memorable
liatUefield of Cold Harbor, manfully
defying General Hancock and his corps'
to Invadt tbe land on which I first saw
he. light, and where I first learned to
lisp the doubly sacred name mamma.
And since the cause Aw which many of
us fought, bled and died has been lost,
I have been a citizen of the United
Stige*, and since June,1871, an adopt
ed Georgian, and with the exception cf
ten months in Worth county, and never
liave, and hope you never will, accuse
me any more of having any thing to do
with Worth’s public school fund nor
the president of the board's managing
siil fund.

P iblic School bu-iness, I ask of you
very iit’.ic -pace on that subject snd

deavor to keep Inside tlie rule*. -
I think it tinnrccs-ary to reply to
h * disconnected and Inconsistent
arpnnems about the scho •) isw, ad-
uitling in some places that they
violated the law, while in other
p iris of hi* argument 1* simply an
i l istrition of a drawing man
tu in cstchiugat a straw. Since Mr.
Fowler’s second epistle came out I
have had tho pleasure ot meeting
one of the Board, and conversing
with hitn about this school matter,
nudiwould be gitd to give the re
sult of his conversation, but, from
tho fact that he is both modest and
unassuming, I refrain from giving

I have accomplished ail I undertook,

never to feel the necessity of agitat
ing it again.
Mr. Fowler’s attack upon Mr.
“3.T. Arllght”(D. G.McClelan) is
very unjost, uncalled for and un
true, and demands a better apology
than he offers, for I pledge my
honor, if I have any left, that I have
bad uo communication, directly or
indirectlv, within the last six
mouths, with Mr. McClellai^ltsuch'

the double rule of three. ' But then
he say* that he had it from tolerable
good authority, that this great “S.

Mr. “G’s'’ communication, he seem
ed to have soma doubts, neverthe
less. In his apology he says he
wrote in the dark and offers that as
an apology in the event that he has
bit tbe wrong man. Now I know
from experience that after men
have passed the meridian of life,
like him, they have very little busi
ness rambling a.tout in tbe dark, for
they are more than apt to be mak

but be trill, doubtless, now have “S.
