A cure for Blind, Bleeding, Itching

Reads Like a Romance.
New York Sprcial, 9tb.
A story that reads like a romance
comes from the Children’s Aid Society.
James Anderson, a New’ York mer
chant, failed in 1856, and his three chil
dren, William Michael, George and
Margaret, ages eight, ten and fourteen
years respectively, were placed in good
homes in Michigan the following year
by the Children’s Aid Society. Through
its agent, Rev. J. P. Root, frequent
reports were received from them. The
little girl died, but the boys grew to
manhood and entered the army, receiv
ing honorable discharges at the close
of the war. They returned home iu
Michigan, where one of them married
and built up a good legal practice. The
other is a farmer. Their interest in the
Children’s Aid Society was kept up by
correspondence, and in 1876 one of the
brothers called at the office when on a
visit East. It appears by the death of
Michael Root, in 1881, in Edinburg, |
Scotland, those children falkheirsto an i
estate worth several million dollars. The
former agent of the society, Rev. 31 r.
Root, called at the office of the society
last week to gather the facts preparator-
ry to claiming the estate in behalf of
the heirs.

A Bey’s Composition on Lawyers.
My teacher says to me, says he, write
on a lawyer. I don’t like lawyers. I
know two. Father calls one a “king”
pin of divorce scamps. The other
scares me in the street. The boys call
him “Dit.” My sister calls a tender
bit of poetry a ditty. He is not tender,
though; he is tough. He loses all his
cases bat lie makes lots of money.
Father says, says he. that this lawyer
sells out to the other side. He says whis-
kj r shook his faith in this lawyer. Whis
ky does shake lawyers. I don’t drink
whisl v. This lawyer drinks whisky with
bad actors. Whisky helps bad actors
and hurts bad lawyers worse. Law
yers are in two kinds. Honest law
yers and those who are not. This law
yer “are not.” Honest lawyers keep
their clients out of. trouble and quiet,
fhe “a ». nots” look after getting their
names i.. the paper and make their
clients whistle. I say ditto to this
Dit. I don't know more about lawvers.
