clever and highly re*p<-cied farmer
named Mathew Aldy wh<» has a wife
and a little five-year old daughter.
During be we*k just passed be had
two negroes employed «o assist him
on his farm. On Thursday evening
last Sir. Aldy and the two negroes,
after the day’a work was done, went
f-> the house late to feed the stuck.
Arriving there Mr. A. ordered one
oftbe negroes—an eigtbeen-ycar old
boy, named Henry Kvle, logo *be
bouse and build a fire In the kitchen
for the c*uk, an aged rtilorrd woman
who was waiting on Mrs. A at the
tiror—*he being confined to her bed
by illness.
Soon after the boy left Mr. A.
heard hi* little five year old daughter
screaming. Hurrying to the kitchen
he found the negro boy there on the

hand. Seizing the villiau by the
throa* he re-coed Ins child, and then
marched him off to squire Rhodes—
• Justice who reside^ in the neigh
borhood—and swearing out a war
rant produced the prisoner for pre-

dative and the ravisher was com
mitted lo jail who baiL He was
then turned over to a couple of bail
iff* who at once started for this city
with him to bulge him in jail.
After going aotne distance they
reached the, lowei Spring Cteek
ferry, and wliiNt waiting for the flat
were aurroanded by fifteen or twenty
determined men, who demanded the
prisoner—saying that they would
convey him hither. A few random
shots convinced the Bailiffs that they
had best accede to the demands of the
stronger force and and thereupon
yielded op the prisoner, and left for
other scones- "
