There is need of an infusion of new
ideas into the heads of Uie Georgia
farmers.
They need to learn that it is never wise
to force themselves to buy what they
can mote cheaply raise at home. They
need to learn that the order of things
Is reversed when, instead of supplying
the markets of the cities and towns
with provisions, they look to (Jealers in
the cities and towns for their own sup
plies.
They need to learn: that there is no
prosperity for them, so long as they
continue to be dependent on dealers
for the necessaries of life; for the very
idea of dependence is incompatible
with prosperity—is, indeed, abhorrent
to it.
There is no law to compel farmers to
learn these things; but there is a great
law which will enforce poverty upon
farmers that are ignorant of them. It
is time for a change.
